After staying for "Just one more" in The George, Crewkerne yesterday, and then having to walk at a very brisk pace not to miss my train I began to wonder why they didn't build the town a bit closer to the station. I think, perhaps that Misterton would be a more accurate name for the said station.

It seems this morning even GWR▸ can't puzzle the system out:
06:02 Salisbury to Gloucester due 08:32 06:02 Salisbury to Gloucester due 08:32 will no longer call at Dilton Marsh and Avoncliff. This is due to a problem currently under investigation. Last Updated:26/03/2018 05:31

I have noticed (or not noticed actually) that a regular passenger who usually gets off at Thornford has not been seen on the train over the last few weeks, I do hope that he hasn't given up on train travel due to this "Train Fault".

It does seem to be an absence of adaptability, we have had the best part of a year of short formed and cancelled trains in the Bristol area, it is absolutely ridiculous that the commuter trains in the evening from Bristol Temple Meads have often been cut from 4 or 5 coaches to 2, it is high time that trains should not be cancelled when the next one on the route is more than, say 30 minutes later, and unless that following train has sufficient capacity, this has certainly been a very poor year for 'customers' in the Bristol, Yate, Frome areas, let alone Melksham. Most years in the summer the trains to Weymouth have been 5 coaches, this year they actually ran one that was 1 coach and had to leave loads of people behind at Trowbridge. I'd like to sign this as "Not Impressed"

My Confession:
Sometime about 50 years ago I happened to be on a train with a schoolmate, which, unusually had toilets on it, and, having seen the hole in the floor type pan that it was, we put one end of the toilet roll down the pan just as we were arriving at Selhurst, to see what would happen, we were delighted to find that, once the train moved on, the track had a continuous strip of toilet paper from one end of the platform to the other. I have matured a little since then.
