1  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: IETs into passenger service from 16 Oct 2017 and subsequent performance issues on: January 28, 2020, 21:10:19
Is not the real issue , the IETs (Intercity Express Train) are good , but not as good as we all imagined Japanese design would be, and GWR (Great Western Railway) Needs 4 more 9 car units , to deliver day in day out.
The public (normals who pay high fares and tax) , are just not interested in excuses.
Are agility trains delivering the contract, what sanctions are there.
This underperformance is ruing what could be a fantastic service..
2  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Worcestershire Parkway Station project - ongoing discussion on: January 27, 2020, 20:54:01
Every item has to be checked , and signed of for the ORR» (Office of Rail and Road formerly Office of Rail Regulation - about), it dire for Worcestershire Parkway , pity Crossrail with 14million items.
Better check for Bats and Newts, they might be back , during the delay ..
3  All across the Great Western territory / Active travel: Cyclists and walkers, including how the railways deal with them / Re: New transport adviser on: July 28, 2019, 19:43:25
Let’s hope so , HS2 (The next High Speed line(s)) is needed for capacity , but not 400 Kph, and perhaps, a review  may be s good idea , slower speed , Station at Brackley , a Transport Desert , May not be s bad move.
I have supported it in public , but in private, I know it is poorly managed and costing too much .
As for cycleways, bring them in , very cheap , good for environment.
4  Journey by Journey / Wales local journeys / Re: M4 relief road cancelled on: June 05, 2019, 20:31:53
This was in Transport , environment and economic terms , the right decision, let’s press for full upgrade of Ebbe Vale, and Abitalery , with wires.
Further east it’s time to scrap , the financially suspect expressway, £4bn and counting , and invest in Cowley , Witney , Hanborough, and actually. Getting to Cambridge .
It’s about time the road Lobby has a set back , with their Poor VFM , schemes .
Expressway 1.2 CBR (Cost Benefit Ratioi (1/BCR))
NM4 - even less .
5  All across the Great Western territory / Diary - what's happening when? / Re: 10th November 2018 - RailFuture National Conference, Reading on: August 31, 2018, 21:03:34
Yes, a summary and slides, should be available.
6  All across the Great Western territory / Diary - what's happening when? / Re: 10th November 2018 - RailFuture National Conference, Reading on: August 30, 2018, 17:18:43
It looks a fantastic line up of speakers , far better than conferences that cost many hundreds of pounds, Grahame is right, Railfuture are showcasing the Thames Valley , there is probably more going in here, than anywhere else in the Country.
Do not underestimate the scale of investment going on, it’s easy to take it for granted , don’t forget how bad it was in the 1980,s.

I am definatly going , lots to learn and CPD .
7  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: Cotswold Line - 2018 cancellation and amendments log on: March 26, 2018, 19:44:39
I too am getting wound up, why have we not got an emergency timetable, if that had been in place in January , at least the line would have not lost droves of passengers , as they would have certainty.
Clearly after 3 months , we now know a full timetable is not possible .
8  Journey by Journey / London to Didcot, Oxford and Banbury / Re: Oxford Station - improvements, incidents and events (merged topic) on: February 03, 2018, 16:24:32
If anyone wants an update, Rob Mashford from Network Rail is giving a presentation on the ongoing and future Works , to Railfuture @ Jericho Community Centre 33 Canal Street OX26BQ. 18.30hrs on Monday 19th Feb 2018.
Non members and those interested are most welcome .
This was a very successfull and interesting meeting last year, so very strongly recommended .
9  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: National Railcard discounts - ongoing discussion, no longer date specific on: November 23, 2017, 17:23:18
If this scheme is revenue neutral and boosts rail use, that’s good for the environment and the economy.

It should be rolled out for everyone.
I seem to think Railfuture had a National railcard Campaign , but this wa dropped as it was not revenue neutral , let’s start it again , I want a discount ..

11  Journey by Journey / Chiltern Railways services / Railfuture Meeting Oxford - Network Rail 16 November on: October 20, 2016, 10:11:13
Railfuture ( Thames Valley)  have a meeting on the FUTURE PLANS FOR THE OXFORD CORRIDOR , speakers from  Network Rail, this is a chance to find out what is actually planned, once and for all, it is clear there is far to much speculation , and this has fed the Objectors and Rail Haters of North Oxford, who have quite frankly peddled a lot of mistruths.
Do come along and get the facts

13  Sideshoots - associated subjects / Campaigns for new and improved services / Railfuture AGM , Saturday 16th April 2016 on: April 12, 2016, 20:28:20
The Branch AGM (Annual General Meeting) is at 10.00hrs At west Oxford community centre, Botley Road , 5 mins walk from Station, Speaker at 10.30 will be Chris Austin , joint author of Disconnected , which for those who have not read it is a fantastic insight , into the closure programme. And how some lines were saved. Railfuture is of course committed to reopening , and in many ways Chris Austins , connecting communities for ATOC» (Association of Train Operating Companies See - here) kicked off the current re-opening wave.
We will also have updates on East West Rail , Hanborough, Wantage Grove and our other Branch Campigns .
Feel free to come along if you can , you don't need to be a member, and it should be informative.
14  Journey by Journey / Thames Valley Branches / Re: TV Branches Meeting with Therese May and Network Rail Boss on: November 14, 2015, 20:45:21
Tom Pierpoint , regional development manager GWR (Great Western Railway), is speaking at Railfuture meeting , New Hope Centre , Reading on 18th Nov 7pm.

15  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture - related rail and other transport issues / Re: Study to explore Oxford - Cambridge Expressway on: October 21, 2015, 22:34:49
It very sad that the old predict and provide system is returning to the Road Construction programme, this road will destroy the environment, generate traffic , and move traffic from rail, whilst at the same time there is still no link to Cambridge by rail ( phase 3), it seems the road lobby operate in a different world.
Where are the North Oxford rail objectors now, I wonder.
