16  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: 2024 Delays and Cancellations - North Cotswold Line on: February 23, 2024, 09:15:30
Quote
07:13 Great Malvern to London Paddington due 09:42 will be cancelled.
This is due to a broken down train.
17  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: 2024 Delays and Cancellations - North Cotswold Line on: February 22, 2024, 17:35:43
With the cancellation of the 15:17 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington and 15:18 Hereford to London Paddington, followed by the diversion of the 16:32 Great Malvern to London Paddington due to a safety inspection of the track, that means no up services from the Cotswolds to London for the best part of four hours.

It's been a messy day for many reasons - and it'll be interesting to see how bad the service was today overall - but not all the cancellations can be put down to the weather. It's unfortunate that services were cancelled due to more trains than usual needing repair etc when the weather was already causing so much disruption.

And somewhat predictably following the failure of 800033 this morning:

Quote
14:53 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 17:04 will be cancelled.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.

17:26 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 19:52 will be cancelled.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.

and also

Quote
17:57 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 20:11 will be terminated at Oxford.

It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Shipton, Kingham, Moreton-In-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham, Pershore, Worcestershire Parkway Hl, Worcester Shrub Hill and Worcester Foregate Street.

This is due to a shortage of train crew.

And a couple more cancellations:

Quote
15:23 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 17:47 will be cancelled.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.
Last Updated:06/02/2024 15:16

18:02 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 20:29 will be cancelled.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.
22  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: 2024 Delays and Cancellations - North Cotswold Line on: February 01, 2024, 17:11:02
And then the next three services:

1612 from Paddington (1645 Oxford) running 22 late and will apparently be omitting Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Pershore, Honeybourne.

Halts train (1723 Oxford) is cancelled.

1658 from Paddington (1746 Oxford) is running... and is a 5-car.

Seriously??? A service is cancelled, the next one misses out two of the busiest stops between Oxford and Worcester, and the one after is cancelled! So passengers for these stations who were hoping to catch the 16:18 from Oxford will have to wait until 17:46!
23  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: 2024 Delays and Cancellations - North Cotswold Line on: February 01, 2024, 16:35:47
As at 16.34 JourneyCheck is reporting

Quote
15:23 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 17:47 will be terminated at Worcester Shrub Hill.
It will no longer call at Worcester Foregate Street.
This is due to industrial action.

when actually it has "been cancelled due to action short of a strike."

Alterations to services between Evesham and Oxford

Following a points failure between Evesham and Oxford all lines have now reopened.

Train services running through these stations are returning to normal but some services may still be delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised. Disruption is expected until 13:30 31/01.
25  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: 2024 Delays and Cancellations - North Cotswold Line on: January 30, 2024, 09:20:42
A few items so far for today:

Quote
08:15 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington due 10:23 will be cancelled.
This is due to industrial action.

16:58 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 19:26 will be cancelled.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.

19:45 Great Malvern to London Paddington due 22:24 will be cancelled.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.

16.28 edit - the 16:58 & 19:45 cancellations no longer showing on JourneyCheck.
26  Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Re: 2024 Delays and Cancellations - North Cotswold Line on: January 25, 2024, 09:47:26
Eventually, JourneyCheck catches up with the problems today:

Quote
Cancellations to services between Oxford and Worcester Shrub Hill

Due to a fault with the signalling system at Evesham fewer trains are able to run on all lines. Disruption is expected until 12:30 25/01.
Train services between Oxford and Worcester Shrub Hill may be cancelled or diverted between Reading and Worcester Shrub Hill.

27  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Ticket purchasing on the GWR App suspended - January 2024 on: January 24, 2024, 16:53:39
I hope any revamp of the app will allow easy login using TouchID with saved credentials on a smartphone. At the moment (when it is working) the app seems to need authentication of who I am at least once per day. Since this requires manual entry of username and password it makes buying a daily ticket rather cumbersome process.
This!

The only App I have that I have to login every time I want to access my rail tickets. Very annoying.

I export my ticket to Google Wallet once it's showing on the GWR (Great Western Railway) app - that way I can access it easily without having to log back into the GWR one.

16:58 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 19:26 will call additionally at Combe, Finstock, Ascott-Under-Wychwood and Shipton.
This is due to the train making extra stops because a train was cancelled.
30  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Infrastructure problems in Thames Valley causing disruption elsewhere - ongoing, since Oct 2014 on: January 11, 2024, 14:45:46
I'm not sure if it's possible to dig up a cached version of JourneyCheck but it was certainly saying that westbound disruption was expected to 1830 at one point yesterday. And a GWRHelp Tweet at 7.23pm yesterday said " due to a broken down train between London Paddington and Reading fewer trains are able to run. Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 20:30"

The raw data for our train disruption map is cached - similar to JourneyCheck's normal feed, but service updates only - so we can look back a day or two; it's useful where the map shows a wobbly.   We don't cache line updates so I can't give you a history of expected disruption forecasts and how they extended.

Thanks for the comments. I was really wanting to look back at the JourneyCheck text from yesterday evening as I seem to remember it saying something along the lines that electric trains couldn't be run on some of the westbound lines until the overhead wires had been checked overnight. That said, it does seem the later disruption was mainly down to the broken rail.
