15:22 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington due 17:29 will be cancelled. This is due to a broken down train earlier today. Further Information Customers are advised to travel on the next available train service.
The next available service for some stations being: 15:14 Hereford to London Paddington due 18:29 will be terminated at Worcester Shrub Hill. It will no longer call at Pershore, Evesham, Honeybourne, Moreton-in-Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury, Hanborough, Oxford, Reading, Slough and London Paddington. It is being delayed at Hereford. This is due to a fault on this train. No sign on JourneyCheck of the 15:51 Worcester Foregate Street to Paddington making extra stops to fill the gaps as yet.

Oops - managed to quote myself there rather than make a small edit to my previous post. Now trying to work out how to delete! Best way is to simply delete content which I have done for you - GrahameThere is no post delete facility / just edit and quote. Historic reasons I won't go into today! Thank you - I was just coming to the conclusion I couldn't delete!

The single biggest thing Hanborough station needs now is a safe cycle route from the east - the A4095 is absolutely lethal, and Woodstock and Bladon have a population of 4,000 (with many more to come at the new Pye development) within very easy cycling distance. Additional cycle parking is all very well but it's not much use if it's too dangerous to get there.
Totally agree about the need for a safe - and cycle friendly - cycle route but the route from the west also needs looking at. Recently another side road has appeared in Hanborough cutting across the existing cycle track, and many motorists seem to view it as a place to park their cars. The only time I've seen a cyclist knocked off their bike was in Hanborough when a motorist pulled out of their driveway, across the shared cycle track/pavement and into a cyclist. And the bottle neck by the bridge needs addressing too - when cycling to the station, I will try and get on the road before the bridge and then use hand signals to turn into the station.

It's also misleading - the delay was at Paddington, not Reading: I was on the 1552 to Moreton - a nice empty HST▸ which was alongside the jam packed 1522 at Paddington and left (on time) 5 minutes after the 1522. Small details but it does make you wonder if they are just making it all up
To be fair, the delayed 15:22 wasn't that crowded when it left Oxford; certainly not in the rear carriage where there were a fair few seats available, though perhaps it was different at the front as the train manager did advise passengers that the Moreton-in-Marsh train was just behind and much less busy. After being turfed off the 15:22 when it was terminated at the last minute at Oxford the previous day, I decided it was best to stay put rather than risk another on the hoof termination of the 15:52 MIM service at Oxford.

There is something very very wrong with GWR▸ , imo: 06:52 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 09:37 will be terminated at Oxford. It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham, Pershore, Worcester Shrub Hill, Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link and Great Malvern. This is due to a shortage of train crew. and the return 09:54 16:22 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 19:26 will be cancelled. This is due to a shortage of train crew. and the return 19:42 If I understand it correctly both these services - the former was also cancelled yesterday, the latter hasn't run at all this week - are supposed to be IETs▸ .

15:22 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 17:58 will be terminated at Oxford. This is due to train crew being delayed.
18:34 Great Malvern to London Paddington due 21:31 will be started from Oxford. This is due to a shortage of train drivers. Which, with the cancellation of the 16:22 PAD» :GMV, meant a three hour gap of down services beyond Moreton-in-Marsh. Customers on the 15:22 at Oxford were advised to go to the main concourse where road transport was being sourced. However complex running a franchise might be, it does get to the stage when any sort of goodwill and understanding does evaporate. My partner gave up using GWR▸ services in the summer and now drives to Reading.

Happy New Year: Due to a fault with the signalling system between Charlbury and Oxford trains have to run at reduced speed on the line towards Oxford. Train services running through these stations may be delayed by up to 30 minutes. Disruption is expected until 10:30 03/01. The 05:28 Hereford to Paddington and 07:10 Moreton-in-Marsh to Paddington both lost about half an hour between Ascott-under-Wychwood and Oxford. The 06:53 Worcester Foregate Street to Didcot Parkway arrived at Oxford 66 late and was terminated, and the 06:42 Hereford to Paddington departed Oxford 50 minutes late. And a cancellation (at least as far as Cotswold Line is concerned): 09:50 Moreton-in-Marsh to London Paddington due 11:30 will be started from Oxford. It will no longer call at Moreton-in-Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury and Hanborough. This is due to a fault with the signalling system. [edit to add details of later delays/cancellations]

Clearly GWR▸ is having to manage with what it's got at the moment. It seems to be that all the substitutions are two coach Turbos replacing five coach 180s (and I understand the 16:22 Paddington - Great Malvern halts service cannot be anything else). Presumably the Cotswold Line is only getting two coach units because GWR is having to spread its existing Turbo fleet even more thinly and there are no spare three coach units.
