The line runs adjacent to the playing field, they were on the playing field at the time.

Line problem between Truro and Par.
Train services are being disrupted due to lightning having damaged equipment between Truro and Par.Engineers are working as fast as possible to restore services to normal. Short notice alterations and delays of up to 45 minutes can be expected.

The lightening struck the line right where it runs along side Penrice School, in St Austell. My mum is a teacher at Penrice, and saw it strike the line!

Thamk you ChrisB. I have looked back through the thread and I can see the post which I think was being referred to.
Apologies Maxwell for being annoyed about your post.

I fully suspect it to be my post. Which as i stated in the post was a copy from a friends facebook who was caught up in the delays. And yes i'm fully aware buses dont magic up, what is the capacity of a train, an average coach is 49 seats, with no standees.

A friend has just put on his facebook, "can anyone pick my wife from Liskeard, train derailment near lostwithiel is the excuse, utter chaos, not enough buses available for everyone, no info available for when there will be enough buses"

2842  All across the Great Western territory / The Wider Picture - related rail and other transport issues / Re: FGW Sponsorship on: September 08, 2011, 00:30:39
having previously organised a youth sports tournament, all of the adults were voluntary, with only lunch provided. The only cost outlay was hiring a sports hall, feeding your volunteer helpers and medals for all participants.
The hiring of the sports hall is the  biggest outlay, but with the right contacts can hire out for the day for ^100 easily. sandwiches, drinks etc for 10-12 volunteer adults ^20. Medals for participants ^1-2 per medal. Paper program 5p a sheet to print, less if done myself.
So can easily with a team of volunteers organise a sports event for children for ^200. This figure is a lot to volunteer organisers, yet a big name  sponsor, ^200 is small change really.
in the program print the sponsors logo dominantly in return for their generosity.

not a bad idea, but i need to start work at either 530am, with the first train getting me to work for 805am at the earliest, buses later. Or the other shift i may have finishes at 1am, last train is at 11pm, or last bus 1005pm.
so therefore wont be a car free day for me!

is mcdonalds sponsoring school football clubs value for money?

And also have a scheme where they organise the training for their staff to become football coaches.
2845  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: Debit cards and train tickets ........ What is going on? on: September 02, 2011, 16:31:42
I've paid a friends o2 phone bill the last 2 months as o2 doesnt like her santander debit card, yet she has been able to go to a cash machine and withdraw the cash to give me to cover my debit card cost.

Talking to a local guard, he said most standard debit cards reject these days unless the card is for a premium account, Mines a LLoyds Platinum account..

Mookiemoo you state your card is a cheque guarantee card, i can 100% definitly tell you it isn't, as this facility no longer available in the UK (United Kingdom), even if the card says it is!

3) held up between depot and paddington probably due to delays or blockage of line caused by your broken down train?
2848  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: What is deemed acceptable? on: August 24, 2011, 19:31:13
what is the procedure if you board a train at Penryn, travelling to Falmouth. no ticketing facilities at either end, and the TM(resolve) does not get around to you? Journey time is about 8-9 minutes from Penryn to Falmouth Docks, 2 intermediate stations in this time. Despite the massive increases in passenger figures i still see this happening daily when the train is busy.
Could you be really honest and phone to pay or is there another way?

I personally always look where the TM is and board near him/her as i'm all for supporting the local lines, and want to see that 90% increase in journeys made increase even more, so wish to pay my fare. others obviously look where tm is and go to the other end to avoid!

Northerns prosecution team are very hot on the subject, yet often fail to provide an opportunity to purchase a ticket!
2850  All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Re: What is deemed acceptable? on: August 23, 2011, 23:42:20
BNM nobody after 250 posts on the other forum has made such a sensible comment. (i see you have just made a comment on that thread/ forum actually)

another scenario, if someone turns up at station in more than enough time to buy a ticket, but encounters unusually long queues, misses train as a result, next train isnt for an hour, could they claim Delay Compensation, as they arrived at their destination late due to fault of insufficient ticketing facilities?
