All across the Great Western territory / Fare's Fair / Oxford / Bicester to London from December
|

I was just wondering what happens when Chiltern trains start public running between Oxford and Marylebone shortly. If I buy, for example, a cheap day return from Oxford to London, is it valid via either Reading or Bicester. If so, would it be valid out by one route and return by the other?
From London to Bicester are fares the same to Bicester North as Bicester Village via Reading or High Wycombe?
Will fares from Oxford Parkway be the same as from Oxford [Botley Road] station? Does the Botley Road station acquire a suffix to differentiate it from Parkway? I don't think it has ever had one before, even when the LMS▸ had Rewley Road station next door.
Too many questions . . .

Journey by Journey / Cross Country services / Where are unreserved seats on XC HST?
|
on: May 05, 2016, 08:53:14
|
A friend is travelling tomorrow from Birmingham to Newton Abbot, and wants to travel on the 1317 from New Street, which appears to be an HST▸ . No reservations are available, so can anyone kindly advise where the unreserved seats are on a XC▸ HST. Thanks.
To avoid any ambiguity -- reservations are/were available on this train but they appear to have all been taken up.

Journey by Journey / London to the Cotswolds / Up platform at Oxford blocked

According to Realtime trains, 1P07 Worcester - Paddington arrived at Oxford at 0624 and stood in the up platform for half an hour, going forward at 0655. The following train, 2P20 Banbury - Paddington stopper, "called" on the up main 0641-0642 and then proceeded towards London. I guess there was no boarding or alighting, and passengers on the train wanting to get off at Oxford were carried on to Radley or Didcot? Can anybody cast any light on what happened? I don't recall this ever happening before, though stand to be corrected . . . Could the stopper have run into platform 3, then reversed out and carried on on the up main?
