I'll offer an educated guess at Highbridge, being the location of the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway's workshops, although I'd never have been able to suggest that from the photo!
244  All across the Great Western territory / Diary - what's happening when? / 13th September - Mendip Sprinter on: September 03, 2014, 17:28:14
The Mendip Traction & Rolling Stock Group (owners of the class 108 DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) based on the East Somerset Railway) have chartered a FGW (First Great Western) class 150 to run from Bristol Temple Meads to the East Somerset Railway at Cranmore on Saturday 13th September.

Leaving Bristol at 1012 with pick ups at Bath and Trowbridge, and travelling over some unusual bits of track for a passenger train along the way, including the freight branch from Witham Friary to Cranmore.

The return leaves Cranmore at 1615, allowing time to ride on the ESR (Emergency Speed Restriction )'s steam trains and the MTRSG's DMU whilst at Cranmore.

Further details and tickets at www.esmodels.co.uk/mendipsprinter.htm

I notice that the missing rail and crossing has been re-instated sometime in the last month or two - the Midland Railway makes a comeback in Bristol! I wonder whether this line will ever see another train pass along it.... Huh

Well I'll have a stab at it with:
1. Shirehampton
2. Bristol Temple Meads
3. London Paddington
4. Edgware Road
5. Kings Cross St.Pancras
6. York
7. Edinburgh
8. Dundee
9. Aberdeen
9a. Glasgow (Queen Street)
10. Glasgow (Central)
10a. London Euston
11. Euston Square
12. Baker Street
13. Paddington
14. Bristol Temple Meads
To finish back at Shirehampton

Am I even close? It sounds like a good trip, with the exception of the problems at Reading on Wednesday morning maybe?
247  Journey by Journey / TransWilts line / Re: Daytime Traffic on the TransWilts on: August 14, 2014, 09:37:28
Commenting here (a good opportunity) on counting methods for any technical reader ... the enumeration approach I take (and encourage) is to count all human passengers, including under-5s.  Babies yet to be born are not counted, however - "this is my last week before I go off on maternity", regrettably, was just a count of one.  Staff at work are not counted, employees of the railway travelling in the passenger accommodation and not working are counted (sometimes, of course, we can't tell).   Dogs and other pets are not counted.   The person counting is only counted if he / she is travelling for purposes other than the count - i.e. would have been on the train anyway.
Having checked grahame's counting methodology above, I submit this count for the 1147 from Westbury on 12th August:
Westbury 6
Trowbridge 15 (9 boarding)
Melksham 25 (11 boarding/1 leaving)
Chippenham 17 (8 boarding/16 leaving)

7. Dorking is the odd one because it is possible to buy a ticket to travel between two (of the three) stations there - Dorking West and Dorking (Deepdene)

9. All four have a token 'parliamentary' service, but Denton is the only one without a train calling on Saturdays.
Denton is also the only one which only has a service in one direction.
