How about build a batch of locos similar to 43's and borrow some of the few hundred mk2's hanging around?

Refurb them to a high standard. Job done.
33  All across the Great Western territory / Who's who on Western railways / Re: First ScotRail Wants To Introduce Loco-Hauled Stock On Fife Rail Route on: May 23, 2008, 08:01:45
Lee, Tom, I've looked at the story and see it illustrated with some real old carriages.

Wasn't there some change in the law with regard to slam door stock and central locking which meant that heritage dmus (at least) could no longer be used on main line services.  And some sort of modification done on the Aylesbury to Princes Risborough and Cardiff Bay trains, which are being run using stock from that generation?  How does this effect loco hauled slam door?  Is this law different in Scotland?

Mods were done to allow them to lock

We may be spluttering around 0.5% of the time at the moment, but we ain't going away  Grin

I reckon it's more than 10% of the time according to my monitoring.

Only another 2% to go, and you've caught up with fgw Wink

signal blockers just wont work in that small a space, and be able to contain them inside 1 carrige, without taking out parts of 2 others.

To prevent repeated usage of such tickets where it is unlikely you will get a ticket check.

So just in case a few people might cheat, everybody has to pay more

Another case of guilty until proven innocent

I cant think of another area where people ASSUME you will cheat

Sports?

They don't drug test everyone for the hell of it...

Thanks for raising this, Shazz!

grahame is aware of the issue, so I'll leave him to respond, if that's alright?

Sure, i know the feeling.

In the process of building a new server and transporting it to Manchester to replace the current 1 for my business! As our 1 in maidenhead is just unuseable now.

Oh the joy.
43  All across the Great Western territory / Across the West / Re: Severn Barrier - surely good news for FGW passengers? on: May 09, 2008, 00:25:33
Exactly, services at:

I suppose an hourly service to Cheltenham from London will reduce this cut to 1 tph less at Swindon and East of Swindon.

Since when has chelt actually had an hourly london service? Wink (in recent years)

No idea who you host your webserver with/ get webhosting off. But theres been a number of issues i've seen in the last few weeks.

The forums/site either time out when they want, or just arnt there. Maybe it's time for an upgrade/ change?  Tongue

If you dont like your job - go find another one

Lets not go into this again. I dont feel like proving you wrong on every single level once again Wink

In this current business climate it's simply not feasable for people to keep switching jobs if and when they like. Not to mention that rail  engineers arn't exactly  in demand. It's a case of move to another region and hope you can get a job there if you were to leave FGW (First Great Western). So yeah, completely practical...
