I think it was a 66.  Sent to rescue a stranded Class 360 that had sat down at Hanwell.

Appears to be plenty of class 800 action tomorrow, including upto 3 diagrams running one after the other through Swindon around lunchtime

(Swindon - next trains)/2017/08/05/1315?stp=S&show=all&order=wtt" target="_blank">http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/advanced/SWI/2017/08/05/1315?stp=S&show=all&order=wtt

I'm sure Swindon or nearby will be awash with enthusiasts.

Two of those are "Q" paths though - will they actually run?

Rumours have been abound of a start date of October 16th for entering passenger service. The following has now been added to the system from the 16th

5C03: 06:33 North Pole to Paddington
1C03: 07:00 Paddington to Bristol TM(resolve)
1A11: 09:30 Bristol TM to Paddington
1B28: 11:45 Paddington to Swansea
1L76: 15:24 (15:29) Swansea to Paddington
1C27: 19:00 Paddington to Bristol TM
5C27: 21:09 Bristol TM to Stoke Gifford

5A03: 04:45 Stoke Gifford to Bristol TM
1A03: 06:00 Bristol TM to Paddington
1B12: 08:15 Paddington to Cardiff*
1L51: 10:55 Cardiff to Paddington*
1B40: 13:45 Paddington to Swansea
1L90: 17:24 (17:29) Swansea to Paddington
5L90: 20:51 Paddington to North Pole

* Denotes diagram will not start until October 30th due to engineering works in the Newport? area

Edit - Taken out the confusing parts which confused myself as well, added in reference to Cardiff services

* Denotes has a VAR schedule starting 16th Oct, whilst this doesn't mean they will be a class 800, I would suggest it is a possibility. (Some other services are currently also down as VAR from 16th)

Eh? Having checked a few of those starred runs, they are all there before 16/10, some tagged as VAR but some in the WTT (Working Time-Table). It's the (unstarred) moves in and out of the depot that are new, involving IEP (Intercity Express Program / Project.) depots instead of HST (High Speed Train) ones.

There's also another like diagram starting from Noth Pole at 06:36 as 5X03, via Gloucester, Swindon, Reading depot, and ending at Stoke Gifford. Maybe they are being added one by one and more will appear as time goes by.

Ending that first diagram (above) at Paddington removes the last* train to Swansea (21:15), which no longer runs, or rather is itself replaced by one to Neath. That seems not to be in the current (to 17/12/17) timetable.

* PS: That's not actually the last train - the late late train at 22:45 is still running.

Hmmmm, I thought they were VAR at time of writing and maybe they have since changed, or I was mistaken?

The 5X## are not service ones and have been penciled in for training for a while now.

? The 21:15 will be formed from the 1A92 from Plymouth/Newquay, as it does today

How about 3X03, 0642 Paddington to Swindon? That departs from P2, having arrived from North Pole IEP (Intercity Express Program / Project.) depot at 0636.

There have been a whole raft of 3X## services running through Swindon all this week on both the main line and Golden Valley route. There was alsio an IET (Intercity Express Train) changing ends at Kemble this afternoon, which was interesting for a Saturday.

In another place it was stated that 5Xxx runs are staffed by Hitachi and are 'mileage accumulation runs' prior to acceptance, but 3Xxx runs are run and staffed by GWR (Great Western Railway) staff alone and are for GWR driver training.  Don't think 'on board' staff training has started just yet.
