Social media has grown from nowt since this forum started in 2006 into something that most of us use these days.  So it seems opportune for me to post up where you can find me (as admin / site operator) on these media.  If asking for a connection, please do say something like "sheepbingo from coffeeshop" if I might not know your real name!

If anyone's new / missed seeing my wife (Lisa) and I on TV when we appeared in January and wonders what we sound and look like, there's another chance to see us on More4 (it's on free view and many packages) on Sunday 1st September.

Quote
"Reality series in which bed-and-breakfast owners compete to have their establishments crowned the best. In Well House Manor in Melksham, Wiltshire computer trainers Graham and Lisa Ellis mix IT with B and B: a combination that on arrival leaves Chic and Jason feeling more like delegates than guests. Graham takes the guests on a historical tour of Melksham, otherwise known as the 'town of milk'. At dinner some of the questions get a little too personal for some of the guests and results in a swift exit for some next morning."

We visit Chick and Jason at Knock Castle at 14:40
We visit Jo and George in Barton House at 15:15
Other contestants visit us at Well House Manor in Melksham at 15:50
And we visit Ben and Keri at Applewood Glamping at 16:20
Finally, it's payment day at  16:50

Almost nothing to do with trains and travel ... expect we had quite a bit of train travel when we recorded the show!

Must admit I found the show very entertaining first time around, and then ended up watching the entire series as well!

R.E social media, I use Facebook and Twitter frequently, occasionally use LinkedIn but very few of my contacts are on there.
Also use a lot of Flickr with pictures of Trains, Cars and shipping  being my main areas of photographing.

Our series of five programs is no longer available for public view - there are perhaps 3 or 4 sets of over 100 that have been taken down.  The cause in other cases is known to be that one of the competing establishments has taken or threatened to take legal action if they continue to be portrayed as shown on TV, but I don't know the cause for our week.  I have taken care to keep a recording for old time's sake, and could be persuaded to show friends who visit,or who invite us over and ply us with nice food and a bottle of wine  Wink .

It really wouldn't surprise me if Chic and Jason from Knock Castle Hotel & Spa are responsible for 'your' series being pulled from re-runs.

To be negatively portrayed in the edit requires you to have negative traits in the first place. Chic & Jason had those in abundance.

For them it wasn't the taking part that counted. It was the winning. Shameless gamesmanship. And obnoxiousness to boot (my opinion, not that of this forum).

You and Lisa were the real winners, Graham.

A chance email today alerted me to the episodes being available on a subscription service [again/still] and following up on that email (we track back all booking enquiries to see if we are still listed in some dusty hole of The Web) I found that Well House Manor's reviews are still on TripAdvisor and our Four in a Bed "reviews" as the viewers saw the series are still on Digital Spy.   My own blogs from the weeks the show aired are still live too.

I have grabbed copied for the archive for me to look back at when I'm retired, old, grey and feeble (yes, I know some consider me the first three of those already!) ... and they are at ...

digital_spy_whm.pdf for the viewer commentary as the shows aired
horsemouthjan2013.pdf (read from the bottom up) for my contemporary blog

TripAdvisor-WHM_Final.pdf and TripAdvisor-WHM_Another.pdf for Trip Advisor reviews of Well House Manor
trip_advisor_whm_text.pdf for the text of those if you want to quote anything

Old friends - very welcome to read and relive
Newcomers - for example if they want to look and see if I can politely serve a coffee - welcome to read

All pages have been filtered - the threads on each of the sites are many pages long and if you thing that coffee shop banter is a bit banale at times ... wait till you read Digital Spy.  But it's a fascinating story as to how impressions can change of just a few days.  The power of marketing!
