From an article in "Breaking Travel News": Great Western Railway clock is lovingly restored A 19th century Great Western Railway clock has been lovingly restored to its former glory by Network Rail after it stopped working two years ago. The GWR▸ clock, which dates back to 1852, is a double-aspect clock and keeps time at the historic Severn Bridge Junction signal box in Shrewsbury ^ the largest mechanical signal box in the world.  I'm not much of an expert on these things but I reckon that's a train, not a clock. I have a sneaking feeling that the photo may not have been taken in Shrewsbury either. |

I like the irony of this one: BRITAIN'S RAILWAYS ^WORST IN EUROPE' BRITAIN^S rail network was savaged yesterday as the worst in Europe in a damning report branding it the ^Great Train Robbery^.  The network was rubbished in a study by the TUC and Manchester University^s Centre for Research on Social-Cultural Change, which claimed that privatisation of British Rail had not worked.
