Somehow I don't think that magnificent well polished, unelectrified double slip is anywhere on a north Kent line used by Southeastern's trains!

Meanwhile, and sort of, back on topic:

The caption for that particular news article image is 'Track'.  Which it is - you can't argue with that!  Wink Cheesy Grin

When did an HST (High Speed Train) last run to Southend?

I'd say probably never.

With the caveat that a HST may well have traversed London, Tilbury and Southend Railway metals, but 99% certain that an EMT» (East Midlands Trains - about) liveried one has never done so.  Grin

EDIT: A bit of Google-ing throws up a GWT (Merlin livery - one of the best!) HST at Southend Victoria, but that's a totally different line....

An old one, pre-dating the start of this topic.

IEPs (Intercity Express Program / Project.) for Minehead?

From the Somerset County Gazette:

Quote
A JOINT bid for a multi-million pound grant which could have made a rail service possible between Minehead and Taunton has been unsuccessful.

Somerset County Council joined its Devon counterpart and Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks in requesting ^3.6million from the Government for a sustainable transport project.

Meanwhile from the "Annoying use of news releases" department... it is rather disappointing the Northern Echo didn't re-write the handout they were given to put the work affecting Manchester Aiport services above those of the Gatwick disruption - which I suspect will affect their readership rather more.
