The major problem [with time travel] is quite simply one of grammar, and the main work to consult in this matter is Dr Dan Streetmentioner^s Time Traveller^s Handbook of 1001 Tense Formations. It will tell you for instance how to describe something that was about to happen to you in the past before you avoided it by time-jumping forward two days in order to avoid it. The event will be described differently according to whether you are talking about it from the standpoint of your own natural time, from a time in the further future, or a time in the further past and is further complicated by the possibility of conducting conversations whilst you are actually travelling from one time to another with the intention of becoming your own mother or father.

Most readers get as far as the Future Semi-Conditionally Modified Subinverted Plagal Past Subjunctive Intentional before giving up: and in fact in later editions of the book all the pages beyond this point have been left blank to save on printing costs.

Trains are back up and running after services were suspended for eight hours after a van was found lying on the line at Chacewater.

The incident, which happened just after 6am, meant services between Penzance and Par and the Falmouth Docks branch line were unable to run.

Network Rail say the trains are now up and running with a ten minute delay

Isn't that a rather steep gradient for a train?  Shocked Roll Eyes Grin

It might be alright, since the train pictured is an EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) and I think they are supposed to be better at gradients. Still probably a bit too steep though, and as for what an EMU is doing between Penzance and Par...

The only relevance I can see is the article is about a train in the South West.  Grin

Well, the dynamo on that Mk1 may be generating electricity for carriage lighting.

On last night's BBC1 Spotlight programme their report on the sleeper train driver's cab incursion used a background image featuring 3rd rail electrified trackwork. Plonkers!

Cross Country trains between Plymouth and Penzance have been cancelled because of high winds.

The high winds have been forecast between Exeter St Davids and Newton Abbot meaning trains are not running between Exeter St Davids and Penzance / Paignton.

The routes affected are: Between Plymouth / Penzance / Paignton and Manchetser Piccadilly / Derby / Birmingham New Street / Edinburgh / Glasgow Central / Aberdeen
The cancellations are expected to last until around 11.00am.

Great Western Railway services are not currently expecting to be affected.

But that's illustrating that "Great Western Railway services are not currently expecting to be affected." Isn't it?

It's wasn't really high winds per se that were the problem this morning. It was the wind combined with a high tide potentially whipping up sea spray along the sea wall at Dawlish.

In such conditions CrossCountry don't like letting their Voyagers out to play.
