You're the Somerset County Gazette forsake. Based in Taunton. 10 minute walk to the station. Step away from the computer and go use your smartphone to get a location accurate picture. It's not rocket surgery. Or brain science.

But is the article writing (at the weekend?) outsourced to a locum service elsewhere?   Looks like other things in the article were a bit woolly - from comments

Quote
"Steps to Taunton train station closed off for safety reasons" with a photo of the station is a bit of a misleading headline as it relates to a council car park that just happens to be near the station and has nothing to do with the station itself.

As far as I know the steps concerned are on railway land. They lead to and from the council run Kilkenny Car Park.

Funny that there is no mention of this on the Transport for London website : http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/lightning-strike-cancels-trains-as-plymouth-is-bombarded-by-heavy-rain/story-29768786-detail/story.html

I presume the weather was so bad last night that South East Cornwall is now in South East London.  Strange that I sure I would have noticed it passing by if it had been.  Still top marks to LUL (London Underground Ltd) for finding a new railway and running trains on it so soon.  Even if they were immediately curtailed by lightning.

Quite simply, the D-Trains have started in service already.

I'm definitely still in Cornwall, although my entire house shook with the thunder!
There is a thread on the storm in the Plymouth and Cornwall section. I live in very close proximity to the struck areas.

New one from The Cambridge News: http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/news/cambridge-news/government-working-deliver-new-addenbrookes-12157773

Is "FLIRT UK (United Kingdom)" a new destination on the Fen Line?

Actually quite relevant as it is an artist impression of the proposed bi-mode units for Greater Anglia secondary services which will run the Norwich - Cambridge (- Stanstead) service which may well serve Addenbrooks station

Whilst the photo accompanying this Exeter Express and Echo article is technically not completely irrelevant, I would be very impressed if the pictured rolling stock were to call at Exeter in public service anywhere near this Christmas.............

Huge disruption for Exeter train travellers this Christmas and New Year

Passengers are being advised to plan their journey from Exeter to London as early as possible this Christmas ahead of Network Rail's biggest ever Christmas upgrade.

Another over hyped up 'the end is nigh' on the railways story. Roll Eyes It makes no difference, if people have to travel over Christmas/New Year thru have to use what services are provided which, like last year, will still get you to London without having to get on a bus*

*Swansea-Cardiff passengers excepted. Local Welsh press could make a story out of that.

Nice try, when they planned electrification on the  GWR (Great Western Railway), I don't think they got third rail to Exeter that quickly...

Good to see the planned cascade of rolling stock has reached a much expanded Exmouth station - thanks to the good old Excess and Error

Although, I suppose, the headline and picture alone could possibly refer to the rolling stock cascade  Cheesy Grin

Another one from the Exeter Excess & Error - GWR (Great Western Railway) services are now run using old hired in Virgin Trains rolling stock.

Delays on Plymouth's railways after major signalling error causes chaos

http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/delays-on-plymouth-s-railways-after-major-signalling-error-causes-chaos/story-30428471-detail/story.html

The following image appears with the caption "Many trains were cancelled yesterday"  !

That explains why despite waiting hours for 'Bittern' to show up it never arrived...

The other photo on that story isn't a lot better in terms of showing today's railway.   Must be all of 15 years old - "fag packet" GWR (Great Western Railway) HST (High Speed Train), the TPO (Travelling Post Office) and a Virgin HST!
