There must be direct services missing out Swansea already, because every time I've got a train from Bristol to Cardiff, it's never gone through Swansea. Or even Felindre...

And seriously, if this were to happen, it doesn't sound terribly good for Swansea.

Breaking news - #DestinationGBR Update
Having made enquiries with the Department of Transport whilst I am here at Parliament, I’m informed that the Great British Railways Transition Team’s shortlist should be announced in two weeks time.
I’ve left the Railways Minister Wendy Morton MP and the Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps in no doubt that it should be a shortlist of one!

Picture ... some bloke in front of a museum piece that had low availability and high staffing needs due to the technology employed, and which wasn't climate friendly and used up irreplaceable fossil fuel resources.  Acceleration was limited due to low adhesion and lack of powered wheels throughout the train, and that made for poor timings.

If that's what the Doncaster folks think we need, I offer you an alternative ...  http://mtug.org.uk/hqx.pdf

I think "Good rail connections right across Great Britain" could come back and bite you some time in the future.

Remind me how long it is since 142 Pacers ran on the Tarka (Line from Barnstaple to Exeter) Line.   Guess no-one's taking fresh pictures out in the wilds of Devon any longer ;-)

Falmouth to Newquay via St. Austell is a very long way around. there is already a half hour bus service between the two by a more useful route.

Article about middle-lane hogging on motorways illustrated with a photograph "of a generic motorway" with no middle lane! Berkshire Live

Perhaps someone on Berkshire Live will read the comment appended to the article and find a more suitable photo.

(I'm not sure what a "generic motorway" is.)

Generic is a town in the Bavarian Alps, near Bad Fartzup.

Generic is a town in the Bavarian Alps, near Bad Fartzup.

Apparently named after a famous local train spotter who was always first with the news.
