XC HST Diagrams

Hi All,

Does anyone know the diagrams for the XC^▸ (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) HST^▸ (High Speed Train) workings for both Sunday and Monday please? I've been lumbered with an XC Journey which I would consider doing if I could do it HST Style and the times were right.

Beware that the Sunday diagrams may be tweaked by engineering work; if you let me know what journey you're planning on Sunday I can probably find out what trains, if any, are *booked* for HST^▸ (High Speed Train) traction.

Bear in mind though that there are no XCs^▸ (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) booked to operate south of Birmingham New Street on a Sunday.

That means that there will be no HSTs^▸ (High Speed Train) in the West of England.

Erm, well, yes, isn't it fairly obvious that that's true of XC^▸ (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) HSTs^▸ (High Speed Train)? However given that I don't know what journey thetrout has planned, he may still be able to use them if it involves travelling north of Brum.

And, of course, there are likely still to be plenty of HSTs in the west of England unless FGW^▸ (First Great Western) are having an exceedingly bad weekend.

I_B Thanks for that... Sunday ruled out for definite as it is a journey most likely starting there. It'll probably be the 13:20 off BHM

Those diagrams above change this Sunday - I think because they have already been affected by engineering work.  There has been a single early morning northbound HST on Sundays in the regular timetables for the last few years.

However unusually a couple of afternoon XC^▸ (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) HST services are shown (with the appropriate symbol) in FGW^▸ (First Great Western)'s timetable 24 on Sundays for the next 6 weeks or so before reverting to the recent situation.

(I find it amazing that FGW publish this info, but XC themselves can't - or won't.  That simple 'H' above the timetable column would allow people to head for the bigger trains...)

The thread refers to XC HSTs and not FGW

According to published diagrams there are XC^▸ (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) HST services in the West this Sunday:

1055 Gloucester - Plymouth 1356
1155 Gloucester - Plymouth 1456
1455 Gloucester - Plymouth 1756

1324 Plymouth - Gloucester 1608
1424 Plymouth - Gloucester 1708
1524 Plymouth - Gloucester 1808
1824 Plymouth - Gloucester 2108

They'll be Voyagers, they are still timed as HSTs^▸ (High Speed Train) but just because they are the standard HST services on a Sunday.

My apologies, they are indeed Voyagers, as confirmed by CrossCountry's booking engine.

The XC^▸ (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) HSTs^▸ (High Speed Train) are normally at Craigentinny or Neville Hill overnight so as none spend the night in the West they will only work north of Birmingham

There is one set in the winter which stables at Laira (Plymouth) on Friday night after working the 1306 Edinburgh-Plymouth, it then works the 1323 Plymouth-Edinburgh on a Sunday. This doesn't happen when there is engineering work such as this weekend though.
