I have recently received a refund from FGW (First Great Western) in the form of an eVoucher.  How do these work?  Can they be used as partial payment for a fare?  How are they redeemed?

Any assistance would be much appreciated Grin

I am guessing they are similar to the eVouchers used by Redspottedhanky, as First Great Western use the same interface for their booking engine.

To enter the code:
From the First Great Western homepage click My Account in the top right hand corner (if you do not have one you will need to register).
Sign in with your email address and password.
Click eVoucher details from the My Account bar on the left hand side.
5 boxes appear - enter the code you have received and click claim voucher.

Details of the voucher should then appear.

AFAIK (as far as I know) part payment/full payment using eVouchers is possible. The option to use value from the voucher should appear on the payment screen when nearing the end of a purchase via the First Great Western website.

Hope that helps, a bit fiddly, but personally I would prefer these over paper vouchers. Not that I have had any in a long time!

I will add to that, part payment will be possible if the value of the voucher exceeds the price of the journey(s) being booked.

I do not believe there is an option to part pay if you are also using a debit/credit card. You probably would want to use the full value of the voucher in this case to minimise use of your own funds, in any case.
