From the First Great Western press release:

Quote
Train operator First Great Western has today [Monday 4 November] re-launched its multimillion pound campaign to promote leisure travel across the South West.

Focusing on crisp coastal walks, Christmas markets and idyllic countryside escapes on the Great Western network, the campaign will run between November and December.

First Great Western Head of Marketing Philip Edgerton said: ^We at First Great Western are extremely lucky to have the region that we serve. Not only do we have some of the most beautiful coastline in the country, but we also have some of its most vibrant cities. What better way to prepare for your Christmas shopping crusade, or weekend away from hustle and bustle, than to jump on board a train and relax and let us keep you moving and help create some magical seasonal memories."

Created by Edinburgh based The Leith Agency, the 10 stunning visuals and radio adverts draw on the romanticism of wintry days out and weekends away.

The visual campaign will appear on billboards, at stations, on the underground, in the press, as well as online, while the radio advert will be played across London stations, stating:

^I love the beach in winter, the crunch of frosty sand,
^Layers of knit wear, a low winter sun and the cold air on my face.

^Then we hit the high street in Truro and start feeling festive in no time,
^As the fairy lights twinkle, we hunt for pressies in the Christmas market.

^Then pile indoors for some mulled wine to warm us up. And all of this is just a train ride away. ^Well, it is if you^re a Great Westerner.^

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Hmm.  Hopefully, the new "I'm a Great Westerner" poster campaign won't include shockers like this:

Customers enjoying the "scenary" might perhaps enjoy a freshly prepared "blaguette" from the chef at the same time !

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.
