As well as "rail stuff", I'm involved with other community activities such as the Melksham Community Campus that's being built over the next couple of years by Wilsthire Council - on the COB (Community Operations Board) which has a veneer of input into localising the process.

Which of these six do you think is suitable for the branding / signs, which not, and which don't you mind about.   Answers by Monday (I only got the artwork yesterday!) and due to panic I'm posting it a bit wide ... More at:

Number 5 does have a connection between the main heading that includes "Community" by showing symbolically some people. I cannot quite see why trees should be included or as in no. 1 , a bridge, so my vote would be for No. 5.

I agree.

I'm a tad confused by the idea of educating the local milk churns. If you go for that one, then you'll get publicity, but not necessarily of the right kind.

Hmm. The insertion of the 'trees and river' image within the text in 3 seems a bit fiddly to me: I vote for 5, as that 'community' image leaves the text clear and balances the Wiltshire Council logo on the right.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Many thanks for the inputs /  there have been several dozen comments overall through various places, but no one outright "wow" offering.   I intentionally gave no background to where each had come from - but I have now followed up at http://melksh.am/4423 ... we'll see what tonight's Area Board of counsellors elected to represent us make of the choices, and I hope we end up with something good and supported.

Bit late, but #3 for me.

Whilst the logic of the "people" shapes in #5 makes sense for community, I find the trees more welcoming and the layout of #5 with the people shapes above the M just looks plain clumsy to me. Why #3 and not #4? The stylised trees look simple (and will scale well), the "real" tree looks overly complex and will not scale so well!

#3 just looks the most balanced to me.

5 is too heavy on the M.

Just worth considering what each offering looks like in black and white.  Even in the age of relatively cheap colour printers, people will still render them on a monochrome laser.
