According to Realtime trains, 1P07 Worcester - Paddington arrived at Oxford at 0624 and stood in the up platform for half an hour, going forward at 0655.
The following train, 2P20 Banbury - Paddington stopper, "called" on the up main 0641-0642 and then proceeded towards London. I guess there was no boarding or alighting, and passengers on the train wanting to get off at Oxford were carried on to Radley or Didcot?
Can anybody cast any light on what happened?  I don't recall this ever happening before, though stand to be corrected . . .
Could the stopper have run into platform 3, then reversed out and carried on on the up main?

2P20 didn't call at Oxford. 1P07 was awaiting its driver off 1D03, which was delayed due to earlier issues with a freight train.

Roll on the Oxford station redevelopment with a flexibly signalled station so that silly situations like that don't cause such mayhem when they arise.

I hope the driver for 1P07 isn't normally booked to travel down on 1D03 which is booked to arrive at Oxford at 0620, thus allowing just 10 minutes to get over to P1 and depart with 1P07.  Doesn't give much resilience against late running. But maybe they were short of train crew and improvising this morning.
