I have just seen this reported on the BBC^» News TV channel.

Rather than comment I will leave readers to look at the article and form their own opinions.

Very sad, but also an entirely predictable consequence of trespassing onto a railway.

Older children such as the deceased in this case, really should be aware of the dangers which have been advertised repeatedly. Those too young or unequipped to understand the dangers should be under parental or other competent supervision.

Darwin award contender, I am sorry to say.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU^▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.
