Problems at Thatcham Crossing Oct 3rd and 4th

[Thatcham Crossing]

I understand that the level crossing in my home town was stuck in the down position for a number of hours yesterday. Traffic chaos around the whole Thatcham/Newbury area was the result.

Today it appears that the crossing is being operated manually (Network Rail man in a van onsite) with trains passing through at caution.

Anyone know if this is going to be fixed in time for the busier traffic on the rails and roads tomorrow?

I'm probably replying to this a bit late, but when I travelled to London on the Saturday afternoon the train did indeed pass through the crossing at walking speed. Last night (Sunday evening) when I returned the train passed the crossing at line speed, so it looks like it might have been fixed.

I think it has, as I crossed the line by road at about 1930 last night (Sun) and the Network Rail folks I'd seen earlier were no longer on site.

Of course if we had a bridge (either at the Station, or an alternative site), none of this would be a problem 

BTW^▸ (by the way), the crossing has it's own Facebook page - where locals post to vent their frustrations with the delays it causes, even on a normal day.

It was fixed about 10 minutes after your original post Thatcham Crossing.

It then failed again briefly early this morning but, fingers crossed, has behaved since.
