Bid to alleviate on-street parking congestion near Uckfield railway station
A survey of rail passengers is to be undertaken as the first step in a bid to alleviate on-street parking congestion around railway stations at Uckfield, Buxted and Crowborough.
The survey will be conducted by Wealden Bus Alliance and Sussex Community Rail Partnership to ascertain the level of demand for an early morning and evening commuter bus service to the different stations.
The survey, funded by Wealden District Council, will be on-line only and to introduce it to rail commuters a leaflet is to be given to passengers at each of the stations.
It will be handed out at the departure times of the first six up trains on weekday mornings.
Respondents will be offered the chance to win ^50 worth of Amazon vouchers.
Additional volunteers are being sought to hand out the leaflets at the stations from 6am to 8am on weekdays starting May 3 for three weeks.
A breakfast/hot snack will be provided to each volunteer each day they attend at a station. A volunteer co-ordinator has been appointed to agree a rota and liaise with the volunteers by phone, text, or email on a regular basis during the three-week period.
Under the terms of the agreement with Southern Railway the leaflets must only be given out at the stations. They must NOT be given out on board a train.
(My highlighting). That aspect seems rather unusual, making it difficult to reach as many rail users as possible for the purpose of this survey?
