With ref to Cfn's comment about North Somerset Council being absent, should anyone be surprised with Ashton and the Ap in charge.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

"Level crossings are safe, unless they are used in an unsafe manner."  Discuss.

Coverage by local transport authorities is patchy ... and there are activities and promotions that are happening outside the logo-ed areas too.

Here in Wiltshire, for example, Faresaver buses are offering a 25% discount off mobile tickets:

Quote
Faresaver will be offering a 25 % discount on all Day and Week Mobile Tickets bought during this period.

When buying your ticket, please use discount code FARE25.

www.mymobiletickets.com

and you may see another promotion or two pop up.

Tweet from First Bristol Somerset and Avon

*Update* Bristol is currently gridlocked. Expect all services to be delayed. Apologies.

What a great advert for catch the bus week.

I suggest everyone decamps to Temple Meads instead.

Shameless bump for anyone who uses or might use the bus in Wiltshire.

http://option247.uk/survey

Takes the average person less that 8 minutes - but results could lead to a lifetime of difference on the buses!

Ironically I plan to catch a couple of buses next week, neither of which will be running after the 20th July due to a cut in council subsidies.

True to my word, I took the 90 from Swindon to Ashbury this week.  The service operated by Go Ride will stop in a fortnight's time, making scenes like this out of my reach.

I had a very nice pint (or two) and an excellent ploughman's lunch.

To be fair the service is being partially replaced by a West Berkshire Council minibus but only only on the stretch between Lambourn and Swindon.

The only snag, from my point of view, is the new service will have a different timetable on Mondays compared to the rest of the week.  Frustratingly the Monday timetable is the only one which really works for a pub lunch - and the pub doesn't serve food on Monday lunchtimes!
