“Britannia Hotels can hardly plead poverty, but for too long they have treated their staff as expendable, with rock-bottom wages, no sick pay scheme and the imposition of insecure zero-hours contracts on the very people they rely on to make their profits.
 
“It is a source of shame that a hotel chain that rakes in millions should seek to exploit any and every means to squeeze ever more out of its staff.

This Edwardian style hotel is perfectly situated on Ranelagh Place at the heart of Liverpool city centre. It's excellent location makes it perfect for business travellers or leisure visitors to this thriving city.

The hotel is minutes away from Liverpool Lime Street Train Station on foot, giving you easy access to suburban Liverpool and national train routes.

The 3 star hotel opened in 1914 and has been a popular city centre destination ever since. Its friendly team, who strive to provide excellent customer service, will greet you upon arrival and are available at all times to offer tips and recommendations for your stay in Liverpool.

There are 402 bedrooms at the Britannia Adelphi Hotel, each maintained to high standards and reflecting the original Edwardian style of the building. All rooms have en-suite facilities, television and complimentary newspapers among other amenities.

Adelphi Hotel is an iconic building close to the beautiful Albert Dock and City Centre , however the interior ,leaves a lot to be desired, my room on the 6th floor had a lovely view down the main route to the Docks and an even loser view of the Radio Tower, the accommodation in the room however consisted of two single beds pushed together sharing a double bed headboard you could not move them apart, one side table, one lamp no ceiling light so dark when you first entered the room, a lamp on the very dusty dressing table, did not work so one lamp and the bathroom light where the only allumination, over all needed a good lean and updating, unfortunately I cannot recommend the evening meal or breakfast, little choice and what there was didnt look very appetising, a choice of 2 green vegetables at dinner, soggy roast potatoes and the potato dauphine solid, breakfast disgusting sausage, fried bacon, tinned mushrooms, tasteless scrambled eggs, I am not a pinnicky eater but I do like my food cooked correctly, and looking appetising, sorry Adelphi I cannot recommend.......

Room Tip: I was on 6th floor front, and it was noisy, no double glazing in hotel

For a room for a night or two - I have stayed at the Adelphi and would stay there again.   However, I would be very careful which of my friends I recommended it to.

It's pretty poor really, something you might expect from a seedy kebab shop in a rough regional town, but not of a fairly large hotel group. Says a lot about how well run the place is overall...it's telling that they have clearly not made improvements and requested a re-inspection as the last inspection was 6 months ago.

You sound like me - I usually tend to only frequent establishments which score a 4 or 5 - to me it just indicates a generally well run business which cares enough about it's customers well being to put in place proper food hygiene procedures which are simply just common sense things to most people. I'm not sure about England, but in Wales it is a legal requirement to display your food hygiene score on the door of your establishment - a jolly good thing if you ask me!

I had one breakfast there ... and it wasn't memorable in a positive way.  The memories of the place are the faded opulence; most things work (" each maintained to high standards") but I've chosen to eat out rather than in when staying there.   

Not a reflection on the hotel really - I tend not to eat in when traveling alone on business, preferring a sandwich, a take away or a fast food place ... my patience is not what it should be and (as happened on Saturday) if I have to wait 20 minutes (for a ploughman's lunch!) I feel it's about 16 minutes too long.

I stayed there for a conference/training type event back in 2010. Definitely had a dated splendour feel to the place but the back stairs provided some decent exercise. My room was notable for having a step up immediately after going through the door and loads of granite.

Food was not memorable but I do not remember it being bad. I suppose though that food hygiene ratings don't look at presentation and taste - if it was filthy back then then it at least tasted alright.

Train back to Bristol after the event had some engineering related diversions and I went via Lincoln...?

From Liverpool? I'm guessing the food was so bad you were poisoned and ended up catching the wrong train without realising!

Not compulsory in England, but the absence of their score on the door is a give away. A good one is displayed proudly
