07:02 XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) Paignton to Manchester Piccadilly service involved.  One GWR (Great Western Railway) Paddington service terminated at Dawlish another being held at Newton Abbot in line with the industry's policy of trying to hold trains at stations wherever possible.

Good (on the none-fatal).   I note that XC are conveying GW (Great Western) passenger by "any reasonable route" ... IMHO (in my humble opinion) via Okehampton would be reasonable.  Wink

I believe it was the 0655 from Plymouth which was terminated and the 0747 from Plymouth which is being held?

Correct. The 0655 then ran a dawlish to Paignton service in lieu of a unit stuck Exeter side. Not sure what happened to the 0655 passengers, unless they were taken via Paignton.

I suspect the RAIB (Rail Accident Investigation Branch) may get involved on this.

I've expanded the topic heading here, for clarity - not least because Mrs CfN was herself (SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed)) affected by the subsequent delays, and demanded that I do something about itRoll Eyes Shocked Grin

Here's a version without any pop-ups, from devonlive:

Quote
Man who survived being hit by train remains in hospital

The crossing at Starcross

A man is continuing to receive hospital treatment after he was hit by a train at Starcross train station near Exeter.

There was widespread disruption to trains in Devon on Saturday morning after the man was hit by a train, and British Transport Police, ambulance crews and Network Rail staff attended the scene of the accident, close to Starcross.

Devon and Cornwall Police said two units had been requested by transport officers. It is understood a man was hit by a train travelling at around 75mph on a pedestrian crossing at Starcross.

He was being treated at the scene for serious injuries, a British Transport Police spokesman said, and is continuing to receive hospital treatment.

The incident took place at around 7.30am and the route was closed for around two hours. First Great Western and Crosscountry trains were affected. Replacement buses were run between Plymouth, Newton Abbot and Exeter St David's.

A British Transport Police (BTP (British Transport Police)) spokesman said: "BTP can confirm that a male was injured after being struck by a train in the area of Starcross Station. The incident was reported to police at 7:37am and was being treated as non-suspicious. Officers from BTP and Devon and Cornwall Police attended the incident. Paramedics also attended and the man was treated on scene prior to be taken to hospital."
