Can't see it mentioned, and NRE(resolve) are still showing the old prices....
A friend has alerted me The Devon Day ranger has increased in price today.

£12 Adult | £6 Child (Day Ranger)
£5.10 Adult | £2.55 Child (Evening Ranger)

He found out as he's gone to do the First Sunday okehampton of the year.

It doesn't come as a surprise, as yesterday I needed Plymouth to Axminster, and the day ranger (old prices) was cheaper than a off peak day return!

Rangers and Rovers have risen all across the area (and wider area too?). They are not fares that change in January, and in past years they haven't kept pace with other fare rises - so a significant increase today is no shock.

They do remain good value ... the Freedom of Severn and Solent (FOSS (Freedom of Severn & Solent Rover)) 8 day out of 15 is now £79 - that's still less than 10 pounds a day, less that 7 pounds a day with a railcard.

Living in (say) Trowbridge, over a fortnight that gives you days out to
- Cardiff
- Great Malvern
- Portsmouth
- Poole
- Lymington
- Weymouth
- Axminster
- Tiverton
then you could buy another because you've still not visited
- Southampton
- Cheltenham Spa
- Bournemouth
- Newport
- Weston-super-mare
- Severn Beach
- Swindon
- Eastleigh

They are all excellent value. Yesterday I went from Plymouth to Axminster. Finished my commitments in Axminster, and went to Exmouth for dinner.

I have always noticed recently at Axminster ticket office that anyone asking for an off peak return to Exeter has been offered a Devon Day Ranger as it has been marginally cheaper, I have thought each time that SWT (South West Trains) must have been losing out considerably, as, presumably, the revenue for a Ranger has to be shared with GWR (Great Western Railway) and Cross Country, whereas with a straightforward return SWT would get all the money. It will be interesting to see tomorrow whether the practice has altered.

Okay, am I the only one who glimpsed this thread title and thought about a dangerous flat fish in Devon?

Interesting today, friend of mine who has been used to buying a Devon Day Ranger with a Devon and Cornwall railcard, to go to Exeter from Axminster, when he was told it had gone up from £6.60 to £7.90, so he bought a day return instead, but then someone told him it was because of the new train company taking over!
