Meanwhile, my local police station here in Nailsea (52JN) has now closed down.  Our local MP▸ (Member of Parliament) is Dr Liam Fox (Conservative).

William Huskisson MP▸ (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Well, Mrs CfN and I did, over a road traffic matter - and there were two other 'customers' in the foyer there then.

But it's not just the front desk that's gone - it's the whole operational complex: locally based response cars, task force van, CID, scientific investigations - all now rebased, many miles away.  Undecided

I don't mind what name the police have on their helmets under the Crown, as long as there are enough of them.

I would however rather see the oafish and excessive new electrification clearances cut back to BR▸ (British Rail(ways))'s standards which were based on sound science and experience.

As we can't spend our money twice we shall just have to remember how much safer it is to be mugged 3.6m away from the juice rather than 2.7m.
