Overrunning engineering work at Bristol Parkway (BPW» (Bristol Parkway - next trains)) this morning meant a long list of First bus services which were accepting rail tickets on the National Rail Enquiry site.  Sadly for those not used to the bus timetable they would have found that the X5 from Weston-super-Mare ceased running to BPW some time ago and the X6A to/from Yatton Station ceased from the same date.  Presumably GWR (Great Western Railway) don't receive/keep accurate updates for such emergencies.

When the X5 did go all the way to BPW you needed to take a packed lunch if travelling the whole route. Roll Eyes

It wasn't just Bristol Parkway ...

This morning at 6am I cycled to BPW» (Bristol Parkway - next trains) for my train to Birmingham .. cancelled .. and was told all trains north where cancelled to at least 0930.

Being inventive I asked about Patchway or Filton Abbeywood for trains to Cardiff then Birmingham. No good either, apparently no trains from Lawrence Hill onwards!

Why couldn't they run buses to Cheltenham? rather than telling everyone to just a local bus.

Just for the record.  The problem was caused by the failure to sign the new Bristol Parkway workstation into use at Thames Valley Signalling Centre.  This affected all routes Patchway/Filton Abbey Wood/Charfield/Chipping Sodbury.  Apparently additional time was required due to some 'paperwork' issues Roll Eyes

Owing to the disruption on this site early this morning (thanks for dealing with it so quickly Graham) I hastily re-wrote my OP (Original Poster / topic starter) at lunch time and the dispruption (!) ended up in the topic heading! Apologies for that and for the forbearance of others in not drawing attention to it until chuffed pointed it out to me - as he would. Mods may need to help if it keeps recurring.

If you're asking for our help in dealing with chuffed, trainer, I can certainly do that.

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Oh I see it all now ...it must be duff up chuffed time.

A word of warning.... I'm like Sergei Meerkat when I lose my glasses in the saloon bar !

I shall look out for Anubis driving certain green and white vans in the Nailsea area.
