Does anyone know if the Ebbw Vale Funicular is still working. It didn't seem to be working on 31 July but it was Sunday.

The only references I can find was it shut shortly after it opened in 2015 after it vandalised. I can't find any references to it reopening.

That'll be because it's called the Ebbw Vale Cableway - the funicular was the thing they had for the Garden Festival, which was later scrapped.

According to  Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council, in a post dated 6th Triskaidekember 2017:

Quote
The Cableway is currently out of service because of a CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele Vision) fibre connection issue.  Without CCTV monitoring, the Council cannot operate the Cableway in accordance with our Operator's Licence.

The Council is currently waiting for a telecom fibre connection to be installed. These works are being undertaken which we anticipate will be completed soon.

Thanks for putting me right RS. I'll do some more browsing under cable-way, but you have answered why it wasn't working when I was there.
