William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

Nunhead station in London is named after the area in which it is situated, however it is said that the area is named after the Nuns Head pub. That is the pub name predates the name of the area. So the station is named for the pub, albeit indirectly.

(named after the beheading of a number of nuns in some old religious war)

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

How about a pop-up pub in the Thames Valley next weekend for those who won't now be travelling by train.

'The Rail Replacement'.

No dogs. No cycles. And a slow route to the bar.

Well they have made a start ! At Paddington a pop up pub appeared a few years ago, near the barrier line. It certainly looks like some kind of porta-hut rather than a permanent structure.
