We (Bob, Chris and I) are looking to enable members to meet up to discuss responses to the GWR (Great Western Railway) Franchise and Community Rail consultations.  Whether we go for something largish and more formal, or small and informal, rather depends on the response here.

By the time of the meeting, we should have lots of inputs via the forum and all had a good chance to read up and give fair thought to what we'll be saying.  Co-ordinating meetings are an excellent chance for people to back up each other's ideas and/or to talk through mutually incompatible answers to help reduce needless conflicting responses ... more weight were almost everyone is asking of the same thing, though perhaps in different words!

I’d potentially be interested. I’m on annual leave on one of those dates but can’t remember which, but may well see an event as a potential day out, if it doesn’t clash with other activities

My own attendance at any / some / all of those meetings will be entirely dependant upon how my shifts (or days off in lieu!) work out after Christmas - but I would be delighted to attend as many as I can!  Roll Eyes

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
