Two down. 11 still standing at time of writing. 81.8%.  Target 99.5%.  Regional 4 week performance around 95%. Service gap over 4 hours.

False Alarm - both now re-instated.

Another one to keep an eye on ... 8 minute connection at Westbury to Weymouth.  Perhaps a good job it's not a bright sunny day that's brought out the crowds.

Train from Swindon now due into Westbury at 10:37 and the one to Weymouth at 10:57.  Hopefully the guard on the TransWilts service is aware and can make re-assuring announcements.  Also note the Weymouth train is not calling at Trowbridge.

The 08:22 Paddington to Penzance arrived at Westbury 13 minutes early after not having to wait for the TransWilts service to clear the single line.

I'm having trouble keeping up this weekend!

Round trips from Westbury (quoting normal times not variations due to engineering) today:

08:28 - Ran, but return service 30 minutes late from Swindon
10:30 - Ran but very late from Westbury and turned back at Chippenham - didn't get as far as Swindon
12:37 - Cancelled (this is the trip from / to Weymouth - only got as far as Westbury
14:35 - no news yet
16:52 - Cancelled for lack of staff, but now reinstated
18:45 - no news yet
19:41 - no news yet; single journey booked to carry on to Cheltenham Spa

Yesterday - looks like 5 trains out of 16 ran.
Melksham time
- calls towards Chippenham at 08:38 and 17:36
- calls towards Westbury at 16:33, 18:40 and 21:39.
Noting that the 16:33, 17:36 as 18:40 calls were announced as cancelled and then re-instate, probably resulted in thin loading though I did chat with one person who said "quite a lot of people - remarkably busy!".

The 1957 to Plymouth (1C96) is going to be starting from Reading today due to the late arrival of the inbound service.  JourneyCheck says that it will be held at Reading to await the arrival of the 2000 from Paddington to Weston-super-mare (1C29) which is a very good plan since this is the last train of the day to Plymouth (excluding the sleeper).

Indeed. The current services are very much less complete and stable than they ought to be, and those failures cause massive upset to people's journeys ... however, there are also some shining beacon examples of mitigation of issues such as this one - some darned good people doing what they can with a broken system and a lack of available resources.
