Customers at Swindon and Chippenham travelling to Trowbridge or Westbury should take the next service, the 20:32 from Swindon towards Weston-super-Mare (20:47 from Chippenham) and change at Bath Spa for the 21:36 service to Portsmouth Harbour which calls at Trowbridge (21:54) and Westbury (22:03).

Customers at Swindon travelling to Melksham should travel on the next service, the 20:32 from Swindon towards Weston-super-Mare, and change at Chippenham and speak to station staff.

Customers at Chippenham travelling to Melksham should speak to station staff.

Customers at Melksham will be provided with road transport to Trowbridge and Westbury.

And the same for lots of subsequent trains.  Not a problem - two will be plenty, thank you.  For the record, these days one would be a sever problem - even on a Saturday we can have a hundred passengers on a contra-flow train.

Curious report from a passenger displaced into a taxi to get back to Melksham ... GWR (Great Western Railway) telling him that the train was actually running through Melksham but not stopping because of time constraints.    Anyone able to fill me in on this - what happened?
