A couple that may catch a few out this afternoon:

Quote
15:21 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 17:58 will be started from Reading.
It will no longer call at London Paddington and Slough.
This is due to a speed restriction because of high track temperatures.

Quote
15:52 London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh due 17:26 will be started from Reading.
It will no longer call at London Paddington and Slough.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.
Will be formed of 3 coaches instead of 8.

Another rash of Slough stops being omitted from Cotswold Line services today.  For reasons of speed restriction.  Unless I've missed something, it seems to be only in the Up direction today.

Looks like Paddington to Bedwyn service has been reduced to a Reading to Bedwyn service - and that's in both directions.

This morning's 04:47 Hereford to Paddington was diverted missing out stops between Worcester Shrub Hill and Reading due to a member of staff being taken ill.

05:28 HFD» (Hereford - next trains)-PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) now running 49 late (i'm on it). We stopped additionally at Didcot for some reason, and were running on the slow lines for quite a while.

On train signalling system? Have we gone European?
Thought on train signalling was common in Europe but would be introduced in the UK (United Kingdom) 'drekly'.

I think you'll find such systems throughout Europe, Britain included, on all high-speed lines (meaning proper, fast, ones) but rare otherwise. It's just that we only have the one little one of those in HS1 (High Speed line 1 - St Pancras to Channel Tunnel).

More knock-on effects from the signalling problems at Oxford earlier in the day.

I read in the Evesham Journal a letter referring to the shockingly bad Cotswold Line service from CLPG» (Cotswold Line Promotion Group - about).  This route is getting a very bad reputation.  Richly deserved, I might add.

The impact of the over-running engineering works spreads far and wide. Luckily, GWR (Great Western Railway) have an easy and regular fix for some congestion issues:

Quote
15:52 London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh due 17:26 was terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham and Moreton-in-Marsh.
This is due to engineering works not being finished on time.
Last Updated:14/05/2018 16:55

17:38 Moreton-in-Marsh to London Paddington due 19:07 will be started from Oxford.
It will no longer call at Moreton-in-Marsh.
This is due to engineering works not being finished on time.

And a very late call too.

Another fun morning:

Quote
04:47 Hereford to London Paddington due 07:54 has been delayed at Worcester Foregate Street and is now 23 minutes late.
This is due to a shortage of train drivers.

Quote
05:11 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington due 07:27 will no longer call at Kingham, Hanborough and Maidenhead.
It has been delayed at Worcester Shrub Hill and is now 34 minutes late.
This is due to a shortage of train drivers.

Quote
07:10 Moreton-in-Marsh to London Paddington due 08:54 will be started from Oxford.
It will no longer call at Moreton-in-Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury and Hanborough.
This is due to congestion.

The result was that the 05:11 WOS» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains):PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) sped through Hanborough shortly after the 04:47 HFD» (Hereford - next trains):PAD was supposed to have departed leaving customers for both services to wait for the latter which eventually arrived a little after 07:15 by which time a fair number of passengers for the 05:28 HFD:PAD would also have joined the crowd!

And a little later as a result of the track defect between Ealing Broadway and Paddington:

Quote
09:50 Moreton-in-Marsh to London Paddington due 11:30 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Reading, Slough and London Paddington.
This is due to a speed restriction over defective track.

More cancellations along the Oxford Worcester route, yet this kind of announcement never appears as a "train cancellation" on GWR (Great Western Railway) Journecheck, merely a "service amendment".  Pure spin.
