12:00 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 14:27 will be started from Oxford.
It will no longer call at Worcester Foregate Street, Worcester Shrub Hill, Pershore, Evesham, Honeybourne, Moreton-in-Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury and Hanborough.
This is due to a fault on a train in front of this one.

Another day of not dependable service

Agreed.  Platform 5 is very much on the agenda I believe (as part of Phase 2 of the Oxford Corridor works) and hopefully won’t have to wait for any major station rebuild that might be many years away.

Now subject to the vagaries of CP6 (Control Period 6 - The five year period between 2019 and 2024) bidding I understand, and word has it that it'll be tied into the Botley Road Bridge replacement/widening for which highway money would be needed. Don't hold your breath

Depends how marginal Oxford is seen to be at the next General Election

05:47 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 08:15 will be cancelled.
This is due to a problem currently under investigation.

and the return:

Quote
08:25 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 10:57 will be cancelled.
This is due to a problem currently under investigation.

As far as running along the north Cotswold Line is concerned, the 08:25 is certainly one of the less reliable services.

At least once a driver has been allocated to this service that doesn't sign the traction (IET (Intercity Express Train)), so I would not be at all surprised if that's happened again given our current general incompetence.

A new month and a very familiar "favourite" makes its first appearance of the month:

Quote
15:50 London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh due 17:26 will be cancelled.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.

but don't worry

Quote
Customers' tickets will be valid on the next available services.

and ditto the return 17:38 MIM:PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains)

13:55 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 16:31 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Reading, Slough and London Paddington.
This is due to this train hitting an obstruction on the line.

Spotted this at 08.19 this morning. Just enough time to jump on the bike and get down to Charlbury station to catch the train the hour before. @GWRHelp informs me that no, I'm not eligible for a refund of the difference between the SVR I needed to buy, and the CDR (Off Peak Day Return [ticket type] (formerly 'Cheap Day')) I would have bought had the train been running...  Angry

That is against the principle that customers should be expected to pay no more because published timetabled trains don't run.    That principle was set in the context of engineering changes pushing trains from off peak to peak timing, but would seem to me to have been stated by my contact in such a way that it also applies in your case.

And a slightly curious one:
Quote
17:25 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 19:59 was started from Worcester Shrub Hill.
It will no longer call at Worcester Foregate Street.
This is due to a fault with barriers at a level crossing.
Last Updated:02/07/2018 17:36

The level crossing in question is some distance up the line towards Great Malvern.

Not a good day. 12 trains cancelled, wholly or in part. Another 11 ran more than 10 minutes late.

RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) is reporting that the 08:25 from Foregate St to Paddington was cancelled "due to a planning error".

Same again today, and it looks like (as I suspected) the ‘planning error’ is allocating a driver who doesn’t sign the traction.

"05:47 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 08:15 was terminated at Oxford."

and naturally:

Quote
08:25 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 10:57 will be cancelled.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

though it's not clear why it's not going to be started from Oxford (not that that would be of any benefit to Cotswold Line passengers)

and a minor irritation - the 0710 MIM:PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) came off the Cotswold Line on time and was promptly put onto the relief track and held for 15 minutes whilst a number of services were put ahead of it (one was clearly a late running Cross Country train).
