I have to report that yesterday's 1622 ran absolutely bang to time as far as MIM, and possibly further.

Or possibly not. 18 late into Worcester Shrub Hill and beyond.

That explains its late inward departure from GMV, which was my return from MIM. Still early into Oxford though.

By amazing co-incidence, my season ticket expired on 6 July so I'm driving to my local Park & Ride and enjoying the walk in. Certainly quicker and more efficient than the bus replacement but it won't replace the trains once they're back. Meanwhile, on the Cotswold Line:

Quote
17:26 Worcester Foregate Street to Hanborough due 18:50 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault on this train.

and:

Quote
19:34 Hanborough to Hereford due 21:32 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault on this train.

as well as a couple of inconveniences:

Quote
Facilities on the 17:50 Hanborough to Great Malvern due 19:22.
Toilet facilities are not available.

Facilities on the 19:43 Great Malvern to Hanborough due 21:15.
Toilet facilities are not available.

How it seems to be working at Hanborough is that buses turn up from Oxford, Oxford Parkway & Didcot Parkway at about twenty past the hour to decant passengers for the Worcester/Hereford bound service at half past the hour, and to carry forward passengers from the service that terminates at about quarter past the hour.

So around now, three buses have arrived at Hanborough to fit in with the 12:59 WOS» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains):HND and 14:30 HND:WOS...

Quote
12:59 Worcester Shrub Hill to Hanborough due 14:15 will be cancelled.
This is due to this train being late from the depot.

14:30 Hanborough to Worcester Shrub Hill due 15:32 will be cancelled.
This is due to this train being late from the depot.

Getting to the end of the Oxford blockade. Today JourneyCheck has an 'other' entry that may be the shortest replacement possible:
Quote
05:11 Worcester Shrub Hill to Hanborough due 06:13 will be cancelled.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

07:02 Hanborough to Worcester Foregate Street due 08:15 will be started from Worcester Shrub Hill.
...

It's in the same league as Hove to Brighton and Portsmouth and Southsea to Portsmouth Harbour

And another one:
Quote
22:36 Worcester Foregate Street to Moreton-in-Marsh due 23:20 will be reinstated.
It will be terminated at Worcester Shrub Hill.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

23:59 Moreton-in-Marsh to Worcester Shrub Hill due 00:35 will be cancelled.

I know freshly laid track and hot temperatures are not a good mix, but there is a certain predictability about this one:

Quote
15:50 London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh due 17:26 was terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham and Moreton-in-Marsh.
This is due to a speed restriction because of high track temperatures.

Last Updated:23/07/2018 16:52

with the return run also affected.

A few journeys were very late, but that tends not to be reported fully on JourneyCheck.

OTT (Open Train Times website) is reporting

17:22 Paddington - Hereford is shown as being 71 late
17:52 Paddington - Shrub Hill 44 late
15:22 Shrub Hill - Paddington 42 late
15:51 Foregate St - Padd'n also 42 late
15:14 Hereford - Padd'n 85 late

And today the signalling system has failed, probably between Evesham and Norton Junction, though JourneyCheck is a bit confused:
Quote
Cancellations to services between Cheltenham Spa and Worcester Shrub Hill
Due to a fault with the signalling system between Evesham and Great Malvern all lines are blocked. Disruption is expected until 12:00 25/07.
Train services between Cheltenham Spa and Worcester Shrub Hill may be cancelled, delayed or revised.
Further Information
An update will follow within the next 2 hours.

Repairs have been effected.  Should see some train movements shortly and possibly reinstatements.

17:22 London Paddington to Hereford due 20:26 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham, Pershore, Worcester Shrub Hill, Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link, Great Malvern, Colwall, Ledbury and Hereford.
This is due to a problem currently under investigation.

And the 17:52 Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill and 18:22 Paddington to Hereford both appear to have been delayed to soe degree beyond Oxford.
