From Realtime Trains:

Quote

This service was cancelled throughout due to late arrival of an inbound service (YI).

Another of GWR (Great Western Railway)'s regular easy "fixes":

Quote
07:10 Moreton-in-Marsh to London Paddington due 08:51 will be started from Oxford.
It will no longer call at Moreton-in-Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury and Hanborough.
This is due to this train being late from the depot.

Third time in 8 days this service has failed to run along the Cotswold Line.

Yep, if it’s more than 15 late and runs through it knocks the Cotswold Line out of kilter for quite a while, so better to stop it at Oxford as it’s rare to have anyone on it after Oxford so just the return journey which is affected.

...so just the return journey which is affected.

Which starts to get a little tedious for those "affected" who use it for their regular commute when it becomes a weekly or twice weekly event!

It is the most sensible decision, the same applies to the afternoon Moreton train which often suffers the same fate for the same reason.  Sadly that fact won’t change until more of the line is redoubled.

alternatively, the situation would be improved if the down services kept time better and didn't miss their path over the single line

Looking back over this thread, thare are fewer posts than before (used to be daily)- can we deduce that the service is getting slightly better? (The emphasis is on the "slightly") The cancellations now seem to be more due to train faults rather than staffing issues. Are the recent train faults IETs (Intercity Express Train) or HSTs (High Speed Train)?

There was much disruption yesterday morning (30.08.2018) following the sad incident between Didcot and Oxford.  None of the cancellations of OWW (Oxford Worcester and Wolverhampton) line services was posted onto this topic, but I counted at least 4 cancellations on JourneyCheck, even though some of them were classed as amendments because they ran between some stations at the London end of the route.
