13:55 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 16:27 will be started from Worcester Shrub Hill.
It will no longer call at Worcester Foregate Street.
This is due to damage to the overhead electric wires.
Last Updated:20/09/2018 12:36

I must have missed the electrification between Worcester's two stations …

On a more serious note: any idea what this relates to?

Yes ... late running trains at Chippenham headed west too at around lunch time - probably the train was turned around at Shrub Hill rather than Foregate Street to get it back on time.  The incoming 11:22 from London got in at 14:15 rather than the 13:40 it was due. Set off back at 14:23 (supposed to be 13:59) ... down to just 15 late at present east of Didcot.

A knock on from the signalling problems between Didcot and Swindon this morning:

Quote
09:21 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 11:31 has been cancelled.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system.

12:00 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 14:27 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system.

Probably something routine but for the record:

Quote
18:29 Great Malvern to London Paddington due 21:05 will be started from Worcester Foregate Street.
It will no longer call at Great Malvern and Malvern Link.
This is due to a fault on this train.

Only reason I mention it is that the outward bound 15:22 Paddington to Great Malvern lost 25 minutes between Wolvercote Junction and Ascott-under-Wychwood (arriving at Hanborough on time), and the reason given on Realtime Trains was rather more unusual:

Quote
This service was cancelled between Worcester Shrub Hill and Great Malvern due to an unexpected number of passengers joining/alighting the service (RB)

I was on the 05:28, and remarkably it went from 15' late at M-in-M to 2' late at Paddington, pickup 12' by virtue of the 'express' run between M-in-M and Oxford.

Those waiting for that train on the platform at Hanborough said it went through very quickly indeed!

This is due to a broken down train.

For some, the next available train being:

Quote

The fault being a door which wouldn't close.

Yes, obviously a little hiccup in the scheduling as that’s not the only train.

For the record, some disruption yesterday due to a broken down train including:

07:44 Great Malvern to Paddington terminated at Charlbury
08:22 Paddington to Hereford terminated at Oxford
08:43 Great Malvern to Paddington departed Oxford 54 minutes late
11:22 Paddington to Great Malvern cancelled
12:13 Hereford to Paddington started from Oxford
14:35 Great Malvern to Paddington cancelled

The first of those trains listed being the cause, as a bird managed to damage a brake pipe on a HST (High Speed Train) between Charlbury and Hanborough.  Fortunately it could still be driven from the cab at the opposite end, so it returned to Charlbury dropped off the passengers and then continued empty to Worcester.

Seems GWR (Great Western Railway) have found a new way to make up lost time on late running services:

Quote
05:28 Hereford to London Paddington due 08:28 will no longer call at Charlbury and Hanborough.
This is due to this train being late from the depot.

I know, greater good and all that... Of course, if the above service is late through Moreton-in-Marsh, it means the following 07:10 MIM:PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) - the train Charlbury and Hanborough passengers will need to catch instead - will also be departing late from MIM!

06:52 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 09:37 will be terminated at Worcester Shrub Hill.
It will no longer call at Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link and Great Malvern.
It has been delayed at Kingham and is now 24 minutes late.
