Second of the day I believe, an earlier incident near Bristol too?
Cancellations to services between London Paddington and Reading
Due to a person being hit by a train between London Paddington and Reading all lines are blocked.
Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 90 minutes. Disruption is expected until 11:30 08/01.

The earlier incident was at Nailsea & Backwell. The person involved has apparently survived and is in the care of paramedics and the police.

I caught the replacement for the Weston Train that was involved in the earlier incident. We were stopped between Reading and Twyford. We then pulled forward to Twyford before returning to Reading. I am now on a Waterloo train and expect to be 2 hours late for my meeting.

Hardly surprising but at least there is an alternative of sorts to London from Reading (...........if you can get as far as Reading) - long old trip to Waterloo from there though, especially if you're on your hind legs all the way. |

And now there’s the Marylebone alternative for anybody coming in from Oxford or the Cotswolds.
Incident declared ‘suspicious‘ which usually means it takes much longer to reopen the lines.

Bad news was that I just missed a Waterloo Train. However the good news was that this meant I was very early for the next so got a seat. |

A tragic start to 2018.
It does look as though at least some lines will be closed beyond the original forecast of 11.30. Slough and Windsor to Eton Central trains are cancelled to 1pm.

In fact SWR are running all the half-hourly service from Reading, as part of the strike-day reduced service. Only the peak-hour extras are missing. I've not looked to see how many are 10-car now - it takes more that a quick look to tell - but it could be all of them, as there are now signs out announcing the longer trains (though a few have been running incognito for a while). The reductions come further in, where the Readings are the back-up for other services that are cut or cancelled. Of course if they are already full with GWR▸ 's diverted masses that isn't going to work for travellers wanting to join later on. |

The train involved was as IET▸ which has forward facing cameras. Apparently British Transport Police can look at the recordings on scene. It would seem there is something which needs further investigation before services can be restored.

Relief lines now open as a Class 387 is being used to screen the scene whilst investigation is ongoing. Slough station remains shut.

When I went through Nailsea this morning the platform for trains heading South was closed with a PCSO stopping people coming up to the platform Believe earlier trains didn't stop here? Looks like someone was hit on the platform? |

I couldn't see on GWR▸ website any offer for passengers to travel via Marylebone to Oxford. Have I missed it or have GWR not considered it

It currently says: Local bus routes, both FirstBus and TfL» , will carry customers, as will other train companies from London termini.
I guess that covers it, though more precise info would have been better. |
