RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) shows a 0950 Salisbury-Weymouth (5Z11) and 1152 return (5Z12) all this week, booked for DOO (Driver-Only Operation (that is, trains which operate without carrying a guard)) Cl159. However it has only run on Tuesday, presumably cancelled due to strikes and today due to points failure between Salisbury and Yeovil.

Should one assume this is driver training for the summer SO service to Weymouth?

I thought the Summer Salisbury-Weymouth service was axed or was it just last year because of the work taking place at Waterloo?

It wasn't a requirement in the new franchise ITT (Invitation to Tender), and I didn't think it would ever return.  Posts in other forums last summer did suggest it had been pulled because of the blockade for some reason.

Appears in RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) again this week M-F. It would seem that they are preparing to run the service again this summer. I seem to recollect that SWT (South West Trains) did not run it last year due to the work at Waterloo.

Be good if they did. Anything to help increase capacity on the line.

That train will be the first realistic departure of the day from Yeovil.  If they only provide 3 cars as in the past it could be decidedly cosy.  Wink
