Falmouth Town Council has subsidised one of the two circular services operating in the town from January to Mid March, this bus covers some residential areas and all the main retail zone. This service operated by OTS Minibus, until 1800 daily, is free for the duration of the initiative.

A second element to this scheme is that all Cornwall Council Car Parks have been zero priced on Saturdays throughout the same period.

Both elements are being well patronised.

Maybe a Good Burgher of Falmouth has visited Akureyri and returned and persuaded their fellow Burghers of Falmouth it would be a good idea to have a free bus service within the town.

When I visited Akureyri a few years ago the bus service within the town was free to everyone, mind you it only ran from about 06:00hrs - 19:00hrs daily on all the 6 routes which comprehensively served every part of that town with a frequency of every 20 - 30 minutes and that included the towns airport which could be walked to from the Town Centre in less than an hour.

Where is Akureyri ? No prizes for the first correct answer.

A country where there are no trains, but one is mooted, joining the main airport to the capital city.

Whilst that might be true, there have been three in the past according to usually questionable sources - though none of them offering public services.

I believe the generosity in providing this service and the free car parking is due to Market street being closed for the main electricity supply cable to be replaced. It will re open for the summer then the work will continue in the Autumn.
