From Cornwall Live

Quote
A delivery mix-up has led to numerous Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants across the country running out of chicken – including the four branches in Cornwall.

KFC blamed a new supplier for the lack of vital ingredients, including chicken and chips, that has meant it has had to close most of its restaurants.

Many across the country have been closed for the past few days and rumours suggest that some might not open again until the middle of this coming week.

I suppose it's good to see that it's not just the railways that have supply chain (chicken, working trains, staff, chips) problems!

A change from Bidvest to DHL.

Unofficial Word from staff they rejected deliveries for being out of temperature specification and have to wait for their next scheduled delivery.
That may tie into the earlier kfc official statement which mentioned they won’t let their quality slip.

There's no lickin' of fingers from Bristol to Penzance, from Amesbury to Weymouth.

That reason has been pasted in entrance doors in London.

The Colonel has emailed me.

Me too. Luckily I’m on annual leave so I don’t need my weekly dinner break in kfc!

In Devon, a shortage of CHIPS has been blamed.

If you want to experience the very worst that America can offer, I recommend a visit to the KFC in Penn Station, New York. We chose it as time was limited, we couldn't find what had been recommended to us, and it looked the least bad.

I was in Woking today. The Taco Bell is closed due to "supply problems" according to the poster on the door but the KFC's up the road and also in the Peacock shopping centre were open. The two brands are or were under common ownership I believe. Meanwhile, I headed off for Spud-U-Like.  Smiley

KFC and Taco Bell do indeed have the same parent - Yum! Brands.

They rarely run outlets directly though. Nearly all are franchises.

Over half of the UKs (United Kingdom) KFC outlets are now shut.

According to KFC, the only restaurant open south west of Bristol is one in somewhere called Barnstable (sic), Devon.  Roll Eyes

A list of open restaurants is being maintained on the KFC UK website.

https://www.kfc.co.uk/crossed-the-road

Meanwhile, news sites are reporting that staff are being encouraged to take holiday. That's a bit unfair. Losing a day, or days, holiday because KFC's new delivery partner (one with little experience in chilled/frozen food distribution) has messed up spectacularly.

DHL should be publicly apologising to the Colonel's customers.

Several independent fried chicken takeaways are shouting on Facebook they’ve still got chicken! Making a joke in their marketing at kfc expense in the process.
Plymouth herald ran an article with alternatives given to kfc

I believe that following these recent events he is now Private Sanders.

Miss Millies in Bristol, North Somerset and South Wales will be doing a roaring trade.

They are the closest in taste to KFC I've ever tried. The Miss Millies founder, Harry Latham, is the person who first brought KFC to the UK (United Kingdom) in the 1960s. He became MD of KFC UK and when he stepped down from that role he became franchisee of several stores in and around Bristol. When KFC UK decided to concentrate on restaurants and drive-thru, Harry converted his KFC take-aways to Miss Millies Country Fried Chicken.

How he got close to the KFC recipe without upsetting them, who knows. Perhaps being good friends with the Colonel and naming his chain after the Colonel's daughter helped.

Cap'n Jaspers/Dewdneys. That is all you need to know by way of alternatives 🙂
