It strikes me as ironic that those few trains scheduled to be 5 cars already are being reduced to 2 when the  plans are to step up trains on the Cardiff to Portsmouth service from 3 cars to 5 all day.  And the old chestnut of "more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time" becomes more double-speak every day - someone needs change the text to "more trains than planned needing repairs at the same time" and have one of his colleagues plan repair schedules and staffing for them in a more robust way!

I will give a lot more credit than usual to the Journey Check team for offering additional advise this morning - not unique for them to do this, but much appreciated to help their customers make the best of a bad job.  I do wonder how rammed (in turn) the 08:12 Parkway to Temple Meads will be ...

07:30 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour due 10:52
Facilities on the 07:30 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour due 10:52.
This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.
Will be formed of 2 coaches instead of 5 between Cardiff Central and Bristol Temple Meads.

Additional Information

Customers at Cardiff Central, Newport and Severn Tunnel Junction travelling to Filton Abbey Wood and Bristol Temple Meads may wish to travel on the London Paddington service (07:26 from Cardiff Central, 07:40 from Newport and Severn Tunnel Junction 07:50) and change at Bristol Parkway for the 08:12 Taunton service which calls at Filton Abbey Wood (08:15) and Bristol Temple Meads (08:23).

..................welcome to our World!

Several of us who are subjected to the daily misery that is LTV (London [and] Thames Valley) have contacted GWR (Great Western Railway) asking what constitutes "more trains than usual" needing repairs and for how long this situation is likely to continue (it's been well over a year already) - rather surprising with so many brand new trains knocking around but no meaningful answer has been received.
