Afternoon all,

A little something which I thought might interest members of this group. I am not sure how to get it put (if deemed suitable) into the Forthcoming Events bit at the bottom of the forum's front page.

Over the weekend of 23rd & 24th June Didcot Railway Centre will be running a gala weekend to mark the opening of its new Signalling Centre exhibition which will house, among other things, the preserved panel from Swindon PSB (Power Signal Box). After much work the panel has been returned to its layout of the mid-1980s and will be put back into use as a working exhibit to be housed at DRC.

The opening of the new Signalling Centre will be performed by Francis How (Chief Executive of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers) at 12 noon on Saturday 23rd. More details can be found at http://www.didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk/events/galas.html and it should be a good day out with trains running on the lines within the railway centre., especially if the weather is decent.

HTIOI,
Dave

Not only suitable - strongly encouraged.

I have added this to the diary for you and I'm going to return the ball to ask you (and to suggest to other members) that they add an event to the forum / the calendar;  looking to make much more use of this facility in the very near future.

To add to the calendar ....

For a new post, go to the calendar at the top of the page and find and click on the date (left hand image below is where you start)

For an existing post of yours, visit the link to calendar tab at the bottom of your post. (right hand image below shows where to start)

Facility available to any member - including those who are newly signed up / haven'r even reached "regular poster" status yet.

Many thanks Grahame: I hadn't realised how it was done as I had never previously tried to add things to the calendar.

Indeed Tom: I should have posted that link but I went for the DRC website link instead as not everyone does Facebook.

The DRC's website link now says that the event is a normal running day (not a gala) but the list of what's on has not changed. To be added to that list, however, is that there will be a swap shop for signalling notices and the signalling record society will have a bookstall there as well. All in all it should be a very good and enjoyable weekend: I hope that the sunshine also puts in an appearance.

I will be there as I am a member of the Swindon Panel Society. I hope that any members of this forum who attend will find the weekend an interesting one.
