Dear UK2.NET Client,

Please read this maintenance notification in full as it affects your UK2.NET account and services.

What’s happening?

On the 26th of August, 2021 from 23:00 BST until the 27th of August at 05:00 BST, we are conducting maintenance that will impact your service(s) in our London region.

The maintenance will impact your VPS server(s) with the following primary IPs:

88.202.183.177
What is the impact?

The maintenance window is scheduled to begin promptly at 23:00 BST when the server(s) will be shut down, once the maintenance has taken place the servers will be powered on again.

Please make any necessary arrangements to shutdown your applications and services prior to the start of this maintenance window.

We aim to complete this maintenance as quickly as possible, however, we ask that you prepare for a service downtime of 6 hours.

As always, if you have any questions about this scheduled maintenance or anything else related to your UK2.NET account, please contact our support team at your earliest convenience. We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for your understanding and patience,

Your UK2.NET Team

For just six hours overnight, I'm going to be pragmatic and suggest we live with the break in service and have it announced and on the diary (which I'm doing now) well in advance.  Activity in the "wee hours" is thin, and for the most part from well established members who will be understanding, and spammers who are trying to get in 24x7 and having the machine switched off is just another way of them being blocked!

Bump!

I took a full backup just before I went on holiday; the only things that have significantly changes in the week are held in databases, and I will copy a database backup during the day tomorrow - this is very much a precaution and I expect the server to be back by 6 a.m. on Friday - however it's best to have "Just in case" in mind.

* Please keep a copy of anything you post after about 6 p.m. tomorrow (Justin Case)

* If the server comes back by 6 a.m. (and it should) all will be hunky dory

* If the maintenance overruns past 8 a.m, I'll put a holding page to let you know on the domain.  Note that address caching may mean it takes a while to get to get to everyone.

* Very very very worst scenario - restore from backups would need to be on Sunday.
