Railway posters for the 21st Century

The Big Four were well known for producing advertising posters extolling the virtues of various destinations on their networks. GWR^▸ favoured idyllic scenes of country and coast. Southern produced posters in an Art Deco style. Both LMS^▸ & LNER^» were known for featuring their locomotives and promoting the speed and comfort of their journeys to Scotland.

An artist has re-imagined the 'destination' style railway poster for the 21st century.

Do any feature a certain group of 4 young people & their canine friend? I've often thought they'd be suitable candidates for railway advertising but I can't see it ever happening.

This "Five go to" theme could be developed. Let's make it relevant to today's GWR^▸ . Some suggestions-

"Five Stay at Home on Sunday"

"Five Get Stranded at Westbury (with 25 others)"

"Five Get Dumped in middle of nowhere by Bus Replacement"

"Five Go Back to Trains of the 1980s" (get this one ready for the bi-modes if and when they arrive)

The Bournemouth poster rather reminds me of Minehead, the prevalence of mobility scooters, the penultimate destination is very apt, and the hill in the distance is very similar to the view along the seafront from the station towards the lifeboat house.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU^▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

That and the steelworks add up to dystopia, I guess.

My mum always recommended Milk of Magnesia for dystopia. At least, I think that's what she said. Grin
