Two and three car Turbos are also required to run up to the stop sign, the existing two and three car stop signs have been removed.  (Well the posts remain but the plates have been taken down.)

The TPWS (Train Protection and Warning System) fitment standards do not require sidings such as at Bedwyn to be fitted.  I note from Bobs photograhs that they have fitted a STOP (S) marker sign just short of the buffer stop.  There is a lot of debate elsewhere about the sighting of these from the IET (Intercity Express Train) cab, so I hope there is a bit of length tolerance in the siding..... Roll Eyes
How about the old tennis ball on a string trick?  Always worked in my garage...

The lack of them was apparently the reason why all Bedwyns were cancelled when it was cold in March, due to worries over possibly blocking the main line. Hence canncellations in no snow. NR» (Network Rail - home page) Sid they were going to.

Can't see any fitted in the photographs Bobm posted earlier in the topic.

I guess that would be part of a separate renewal project of the S&C (Settle and Carlisle )?  Or is it relatively straightforward to fit point heaters to existing equipment?

Modern electric heaters consist of strips that are clipped to the outside rail foot, so fairly easy to retrofit.  However, the biggest issue is usually getting a power supply to site (especially in a remote site).  They can't be fed from the signalling power supply (just in case anybody thought of asking ☺).

There is a large building between the end of the up platform and the bridge which looks to be a relay room, so suspect there is power within 300 yards.

Doh....forgot about the relay room (its an age thing you know).  That would be OK provided the DNO (Distribution Network Operator) Supply point has the required spare capacity.

I saw this "kettle" stuff around and my mind turned to the idea of running a steam hauled push pull service in winter out to Bedwyn, using steam from the engine to blow the snow out of the points ... my mind comes up with some silly ideas on a Saturday night!
