Just looking at The FGW (First Great Western) website and still the Thames valley performance figures are lower than the other areas stated
Just wondering if anyone knew why this is??

Well, the Cotswold Line doesn't help here - the worst performing route on FGW (First Great Western)'s network by their own admission - but don't forget the figures posted on the website for the Thames Valley relate to Monday to Friday peak hours only (see the notes at the bottom of the tables), when there are the maximum number of trains out there, and the on time performance standard for this area is within five minutes of booked time, so just one problem at these times of day can mean a lot of trains are recorded as delayed. Elsewhere on FGW, the figures are for all trains Monday-Saturday.

These figures also exclude two of the worst trains, the 0837 Worcester to Paddington as it arrives after 10am at Paddinton, and the 1551 Padd to Worcester as it leaves before 4pm, however these two trains are very much part of the peak for trains further up the line.

Forgot to say, the current four week charter figures at 77% are almost as good as it has got for over a year....I think it was 79% last year at one point, hasnt been over 80% for a four week period for a very long time, has been as low as 64%.

Here are the 4 weekly figures for punctuality  for the passenger charter for the last 7 months or so:

Thames Valley (former FGW (First Great Western) link)

period 6 ending 15/9/07   79%
period 7                            75%
period 8 ending 10/11/07 69%
period 9                            66%
period 10                          64% covers 1st month of new timetable and Xmas period
when lots of cancellations due to staff not available
period 11                          78.2
period 12                          77,5

Period 13 figures are now out, 83.3% for the Thames Valley, first time I have seen them over 80% for a very long time. TV now back in line with the rest of FGW (First Great Western) services.

Still too many short formed/stopping short trains however.
