I am planning to catch this train; however, it's not appearing in the journey planner. The last train of the evening is still showing, so it can't not be running due to Engineering Work, and the unit which works the service TO Gatwick is running. So this is just a blip in the system?

I think it’s just a blip, Steve.  There is a drivers diagram for that day with it listed clearly on it anyway!

Yes, appears to be a blip, Monday to Thursday is running to a varied schedule, looks like Friday has been forgotten to be added

It wouldn't surprise me if on Friday morning journeycheck has something like:

Quote
22:00 Gatwick Airport to Reading

An additional train has been planned to operate. 22:00 Gatwick Airport to Reading calling at Redhill etc etc...

This is due to a planning error

How mysterious ... it (2V81) is shown on the track maps sites; OTT (Open Train Times website), doesn't cover the North Downs Line but it has just appeared at Shalford. However, it's not in RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) nor other schedule sites, not even the more complete liverail. It's also not showing up on the Tiger CIS (Customer Information System) screens, so presumably arriving unannounced at stations! What a (crazy) way to run a railway!

And 1V81 duly appeared at Wokingham at its usual time (or just before), and made a normal station call. A few of the dozen or so passengers on it got off, and none got on until one with a bike turns up just as the guard blows his whistle. But then it was not announced at all before its arrival, and then at the last minute as a "stand clear from the platform, the next train is not scheduled to stop at this station".

But this evening does cast a light on some odd corners of the data available: this train has not appeared as a scheduled service, nor in the CISs (Customer Information System); while 2V72 from Redhill (due 20:15) is still shown on Reading CIS as delayed, on RTT» (Real Time Trains - website) as running to Reading South Junction and then vanishing, and doesn't appear at all on liverail (so not as complete as I said before!).

Well I did catch it, and it wasn't advertised at all on the screens at Redhill
